The daughter said I can't imagine what happens when we pass away(my wife and I) and she has to go thru the deepfreeze. I said that's nothing, wait till you have to go thru the clothes and all the other stuff LOL

Growing up as as a Air Force brat we moved 15 times. When my wife & I moved in to this house we planned it as our last move ever.

The worst move in my life happened between 2 houses that were in eyesight of each other.

My best move was from one apt to another on the same floor.

Didn't have to pack a thing.

My wife is a retired realtor. We seem to move every 4 or 5 years. She still finds good deals. Second last move was to a 3 acre hobby farm where I had an 1800 sf shop plus 2 other outbuildings. More space means accumulate more stuff. we moved back to the city 3 yrs ago. It took me a year to sell off stuff, burn and truck more stuff to the dump. We still have a basement full of boxes which are not yet unpacked 3 yrs later.
I have read somewhere that the biggest growth industry in the US are the storage locker places.

We moved a week ago, about 40 miles. We did the boxing, hired movers to do the rest. Best. Decison. Ever.

They showed up with their own truck, did all the lifting and packing, wrapped each piece in a blanket. I sat around eating oatmeal. It cost us $80/hr for three people, no extra charge for truck, mileage, blankets, anything.

Well worth $600.

I moved two miles 15 years ago, might as have moved across the country. I'll probably do it again in about 7 years. Gotta get rid of the junk.

1. Get dumpster delivered.
2. Make garage sale sign..
3. Arrange Good Will pickup.
4. Pack remaining 10% of your possessions that you actually need and use.

I'm not moving (yet anyway) but I'm paring down. Amazing how fast stuff goes when you post a "free stuff" ad on CL. I had to take it down in less than an hour yesterday and I didn't put it up until 6pm. Everything was gone but a computer monitor and some jerk cut the cord on that.

Gonna go for a 2nd round today. I'm tossing out good stuff including antique furniture. There just comes a time.
