Instead of pointing the gun and asking the clerk to open the register, they'll shoot the first clerk and have the 2nd one open it.

Another potential issue with the CCW hero scenario is when some guy gets just a little too trigger happy and takes out a couple of bystanders, or takes out a 'perp' that isn't even a perp.

well lets use (novel idea) an armed robbery for example..................

if bad guy displays a weapon(anything) he intends to use it. and by law(any state) he the bad guy just stepped into bad ju ju -ville plain and simple. he has a target on him until killed or caught.

me?(non ccw phenom) will take out the threat exactly as i was trained to do. and have practiced over and over and over until my wallet is empty and i have run out of ammo. for YEARS NOW! I.D the threat, take cover, wait for the shot.

ya know i was damn proud of myself when we(around 50 people) were shot at up in clear creek campground,az. i have played this over in my mind countless times, asked all my friends there what i did and here it is again. upon hearing 1st round, i went into a crouch behind my engine block of my truck, pulled springfield micro .45, racked slide, dropped safety and pointed weapon towards threat.

at that moment i did not have a clear target due to bad guys elevation and cottonwood trees overhanging his area. i was low by trout stream he was high on hill.

during this debacle of bad guy dumping his mag on us and tree branches and leaves falling onto our heads, everybody including myself was yelling to cease fire.

he NEVER STOPPED FIRING! he reloaded and continued..................

and thats when i looked for any cover to get a shot on him. the decision had been made by ME and this guy was going to be VAPORIZED PERIOD! no doubt in my mind. when he reloaded another mag(3rd mag now) and started firing some more, there wasnt ANY GAWD DAMN DOUBT WHAT I WAS GONNA DO! EVAR! I WAS GOING TO STOP THE FEEKING THREAT! I WAS MORE THAN PISSED AT THIS POINT! INSANE PISSED WOULD DESCRIBE IT! CAUTION TO THE WIND, NOBODY IS DOING NOTHING and IM THE ONLY ONE DOING "SOMETHING" TO STOP THE THREAT!

i damn near emptied my mag on him thru the trees to maybe make him stop. but the lil man in my head said "NO WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE A TARGET!" so i did wait. and then the shooting stopped. and thats when we (amigo) and i hopped into my truck, I.D'd the guy and his meth g/friend (with .45 cocked and locked), in my down jacket pocket, and left and got a hold of the cops. had he placed his hands or her hands, anywhere i perceived a threat.............they were DEAD! end of subject.

i literally had 50 witness's to this including infants suckling mommies.

when you have the dubious honor of being shot at.................YOU WILL KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE HELL TO DO IF YOU HAVE TRAINED FOR IT! its 2nd nature no different than wiping yer azz in the morning. when ya have yer wifey there, yer amigo and his wifey and kids and dawgs there, and the family reunion right next to us in the next campground..................trust me YOU will either become a MAN or a MOUSE!

and thats why for the rest of my life anywhere i go.............i will ALWAYS CARRY OVERWHELMING SUPREME FIREPOWER TO THWART SUCH AN ATTACK!

in hindsight, and after taking to some cop friends and the arresting usfs ranger and yavapai shurffs, i had every right to fire in his direction to thwart the attack. had i had a .308/.357/.44/.30-.30/.338/45/70 rifle etc I WOULD HAVE, due to the tree cover(a .45 shorty pistol is preety worthless in that example). this clown knew full well this was a national forest campground with campsites everywhere.

he got busted along with methy mommy, usfs ranger danger called me later in the week, to get my statement again recorded over the phone, called my friend got his statement recorded blah blah. no matter how ya look at this............its a FELONY shooting anywhere in a designated usfs campground. shooting at an occupied area with people made it reckless endangerment and attempted murrdurr. this guy got his azz handed to him...................and im proud to say "I-HELPED!"

trust me.................getting shot at.....................AINT NO FUN AT ALL!

for the world to see right here and now...............if it ever happens again.............i will UNLOAD SO MANY ROUNDS at the BAD GUY or GUYS THEY WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT HIT THEM!

it changes ya for life same as munich 1972 when i was 14.

SHE WAS PISSED!................................and SO WAS I!

i cannot describe the feeling except PISSED LIKE YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN PISSED!

and that video describes it to a tee. old lady with handgun vs 4 masked armed robbers. WOW! my hats off to her.

the adrenalin that runs through you is beyond words. i cant describe it except for being MORE PISSED THAN EVER BEFORE IN MY LIFE!

and with that adrenalin YOU OR ME WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM! LIKE NOW!

this happens day in day out around the world, and normal nobodys like myself and grandma in the video, rise to the challenge, and with a lot of training can and will overcome the threat presented.

it took about a mill-yon beers that night to come down from that crap up in clearcreek campground. the following day i was still so amp'd, i thought i was a kricket on a griddle.

It makes you wonder if his course could have been changed, if sometime in his past somebody could have gotten through to him and made a difference. We'll never know. It sounds like he was just a stupid kid playing a dangerous game, thinking life was a game, and not realizing or caring how serious the consequences of his actions were... for him and everybody else around him.

He should have been going to college, or working as an apprentice to a master craftsman, or even sweeping a floor. Anything else but this. It's his own fault, but it's still a damn shame. A young life thrown away for nothing. Several lives changed forever; the hero, the manager, the family, the bystanders. None will be the same. His mom has to bury her son. Maybe it was all her fault. Or maybe she did the best she could and just couldn't get through to him, hoped he'd grow out of it. Not now.

I'm glad he was taken out before he hurt somebody, but I'm not going to laugh about a kid that died today. For his family, today feels like the end of the world.

I should probably put on a flame suit now...
Feeling bad because a young kid was stupid and bad and got killed, is pretty much an admirable quality. Kid deserved what he got, sad but true.

Flames for you, NOPE, your pretty normal.

Life can be pretty cruel.

You can't just shoot and kill someone for theft. That is very wrong.

It's just a matter of time before someone shooting at the bad guy starts a gunfight that kills or maims an innocent person. As far as I'm concerned if you started shooting at someone who has not fired a shot you are not defending me. You are putting my life and others at risk. Give the robber what they want and let them be on their way.

Problem is that most of these robbers are so out of control that even they have little idea where they are pointing the weapon.

Sorry but if they are carrying a weapon in the commission of a crime, that opens the door for their being put down to protect everyone in the area. Its easy, put the weapon down and walk away or face possibly being killed.

In Minnesota a few years back, someone robbed a gun store and managed to shoot the employee dead. The reason I recall it is because my Dad was the judge who sentenced the guy.

I agree in principle but every situation is unique. If I was the CCW person in a store getting robbed, I might shoot a robber or two if I thought that they were going to imminently murder an innocent. It can be hard to judge these things from afar. If the dead kid was unarmed and the guy just dropped him for no good reason, that's different, IMO.

Horse hockey, that type of action only breeds more crime, rewarding criminals is not going to stop it, killing them will.

You might be willing to bend over, but I sure as hell am not...

This is where the CCW is going to have to make a GOOD judgement call.
Do I have a clear good shot at my target.
If I miss, will I hit an innocent or maybe a case of dynamite sitting on a shelf or a 500 gallon gas tank.
Is this absolutely, positively, necessary. Is my own or another persons life at risk.
I don't think many people are going to open fire on an impulse. Some training is required of all concealed weapons carriers. The system seems to work. Someone mentioned it's not right to shoot someone for theft. BS, if he has a weapon, I figure he intends to use it. I've seen enough Tru-TV to have that figured out.

Australia!!!!!!!!! You'd have to beat a robber over the head with a Koala. Remember, they snatched your guns. I'm beginning to wonder how bright some of you are down there. You're probably better off without guns anyway.

Cowering pussies like you are a large part of why, even without firearms, violent crime in Australia is spinning out of control. To the point where your official stats have been altered in an attempt to make it look better than it is. Your neighbors, the Kiwis, have called you on it and have exposed your manipulated stats for the sham that they are.

I can't believe you she-men have taken over and disarmed a once proud, fiercely independent nation. I guess you have finally gotten what you deserve - one of the highest rates of violent crime on earth, as you cower and "give the robber what they want and let them be on their way" - to do it again, and again, and again. I guess all the real men must have finally made parole and left...

Now now, I'm sure they stand up to rapists, at least ... and politely ask them to use condoms.

I can see why now that we argued over the Boeing deal. You can be a bit irrational. If not irrational, then just a name caller.
