I had a cat that started doing that.

Went thru the whole gamut of stress stuff as well.

Turned out she was diabetic.

As far as the teeth and bad breath, don't feed it wet food. Dry or moist kibble.

Could be a UTI.

once upon a time...............we had a kat up in evergreen colorado named POCO(big mtn kat). he was a he and he sprayed everywhere anything.

one day much to POCO's demise................he sprayed my buddies pillow. i am howling laughing, buddy is pissed big time.

well he grabbed POCO and ran into bathroom, stuffed POCO's fat azz into the toilet, slammed the lid down, and proceeded to sit on toilet while flushing over and over and over and over .................................AND OVER!

i was in hysterics!

when he finally lifted toilet seat POCO bolted like a saturn 5 rocket tied to his azz.

NEVER EVAR TO SPRAY IN THE HOUSE EVAR AGAIN!

TRUE STORY!

and to this day................thats what we call the "BUTT -WHIRLIES!"

They don't generally do that by peeing unless there is competition like the presence of another cat in the area. Indoors is not normally a problem.

They mark by rubbing their faces on stuff.

We think it's cute and a sign of affection when they rub around our legs.

they are really marking us as their property.

They will pee out of spite but again they will likely pick a personal item to pee on.

Similar situation with our older car. Pull the teeth and put him on Urinary S-O. In other words, clear up the infections in the mouth and provide food that will keep the urinary track clean. We have not had a single problem since we did this 9 years ago.

I can almost smell your house from here. We recently had our dog of 15 years put down and one of the main reason was that it was incontinent. A new found kitten wouldn't last a day with me. Cat pee is the worst and anyone that thinks they have cleaned their house and it doesn't smell is either in denial or they have just gotten use to it. Stop it before you have to burn your house down.

dood you are loosing the cat lottery. Sequester it out of the house, if you actually can't get just rid of it. Cat pee, when it dries turns into a crystal structure that is made up of tiny burrs which attaches to what ever it has dried on and will never let go....

While we're on the topic - how in the hell do I get the smell out of my laptop case?

Luckily my brand new laptop wasn't in the case at the time.

That's all I'm sayin'.
You don't know much about cats. Persians have that crust on their eyes. I've had only 2, but I know these kitties. The quality of life remark is actually closer to being correct. Persians need daily care. Sometimes they have to be brushed more than once a day. The eyes have to be cleaned in the morning if they sleep at night. They can manage part of it themselves when awake (not many hours). You can see the stains on the kitty's paws from the eyes.

Not being exactly the Cat Whisperer, I'd say this cat is not placed in the best of homes. It might do better w/o other cats. No cats should have to use the same box as others, nor should they eat and drink out of the same bowls. You can't tell THEM that, it's a matter of training.

If this cat does not have someone at home most of the time to take the time to care for it, give it affection when it wants it and train when needed, it needs to go. Persians and Himalayans are not like other cats. I like cats, but I like these breeds best. But they are a royal PITA unless that's your bag.

These statements I make are the consensus. There are Persians that don't know they are Persians and live outdoors and do what most cats do. Most are typical of the breed.

+1
Make sure they check it for Diabetes.
My old cat had it and would piss every all over the place.
She was fine after I had that under control.
Its a big shock for this cat to go to a new home with other cats.
Stay cool, they are great pets.

It's time to slip the vet a few Bens and get him to call your wife and tell her the cat has some horrible disease and is in a lot of pain and there's no cure, so it should be put to sleep.

*ducking*

We have 2 cats.
I have essentially always have had a cat.

This cat of yours has been drawn the joker card.-a retard.
Happens even in my neighborhood. Not born but learnt and some here and there as you can see when you go grocery shopping.
It may do better becoming a 'Farm Cat '.
Have a child or 2 and I bet your 'other' will forget about the spleen.

The dental issues and odor are related.

These teeth are probably infected causing pain and the odor. Get the teeth pulled. I bet the cat comes home like it had a personality transplant.

We had a Himalayan that was pure evil. Stole food from our other car. Peed on the burners of our electric stove. Peed on the carpet. Pure evil.

I have nothing to offer here that would be productive. I hate cats!

I have been reluctant to click on the thread but out of sheer boredom I did, what a mistake.
