lack of consciousness talk. I would like to know if u Pelicanites have experienced this. This is an example. You are walking with a friend or relative and that person says something that they would not normally say to your face. Rather than u taking up the issue with them immediately to avoid confrontation the same subject comes up later and they deny saying anything about that subject.
Have u experienced this? Any psychologists on the forum and anybody that could give insight into this situation would be greatly appreciated!

a) a brain fart
b) willful denial

We all get 'a' on occasion but 'b' is more sinister . . .

- People who are untruthful tend to have a more difficult time keeping track of the various stories they have had to fabricate in order to cover up the real story.

- People who lie outright will avoid direct denial. Example: when confronted with a lie, they would never say, "I did not say that!" Rather, they would say, "I would never say such a thing!"

- Some people are just airheads, and don't realize it if they offend someone, and at the same time are forgetful about things they say.

Brain damage from alcohol/drug abuse?

A friend of mine has been sober for 30 years. But the prior 25 have left him moderately brain damaged (no, I'm not a doctor, but I have known quite a few alcoholics - most now dead, another side effect of alcoholism - and it becomes pretty evident after talking with them for a while). From time to time he'll tell me the same story that he told me a day ot two before. I see no point in bringing this to his attention as there is nothing that can be done. And besides, he's a good story teller.

Yes I think that this nails it completely. Good observation of the human species. If they can't look u in the eye when they are saying something offensive, then they are lacking. But then I think that my mancard may be in question because I did not react. I keep the peace that way but in the meantime I am seething. Conversely maybe I am getting hard of hearing. Perhaps a could u say that again would be in order.
