man..i am loving them.

i usually roast them and slice them into salads..but lately, i have been cutting them into tiny julienne pieces and tossing them into the greens raw.

my farmer market days are coming to an end..and i am feeling bummed.

NFW. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/pukeface.gif My wife and son somehow find them edible. They must be weird. :)

Especially pickled. i am the only one in the family that likes turnips though.

Absolutely, I eat beets. The greens are better than spinach.

No. Disgusting things. But I tried.

You mean beetroot? Crickey...YES....delicious on a sandwich!!! :D

redstrosekNic 09-26-2012 11:39 AM

I hate them. The smell is horrible.

aigel 09-26-2012 11:42 AM

They sure taste like the ground they came out of, so I understand why some people hat them. I could not eat them as a kid, I'd literally get nauseated. Now I do eat them. I like them in winter as a vegetable, in summer only in salads. I like to boil them and then put them in salads or grade them in. They are very healthy. ;)

Beth makes the best borscht in the world... cold with shredded beets and topped with real sour cream... Great on a hot summer day or a cold winter one!

Beets taste and smell like dirt. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...ys/a_pukey.gif

I love pickled beets. I have never tried them any other way.

Try them off the BBQ. Wrap in tin foil and roast them on the grill for about 20-30 minutes. Delicious!

tharbert 09-26-2012 12:06 PM

...gagging noises...

Erakad 09-26-2012 12:10 PM

You can all go ahead and enjoy, I'll pass.

Fry them on the BBQ. Wrap in tin foil and roast them on the grill for about 200-300 minutes. Then bury 'em!

Once had a four hour standoff at the kitchen table with my mom over beets. I won.

YACK!

Love raw turnips with a dash of salt though!

scottmandue 09-26-2012 12:17 PM

Yes, need to learn how to cook them... usually get them in a premade salad.

willtel 09-26-2012 12:33 PM

I put one a day in my juicer. A year a two ago I would have told you taste like dirt and refused them but I have started to like them in salads.

I've been tossing the greens out. Should I juice those too?

Fondueski 09-26-2012 12:52 PM

No middle ground with beets. I love them - except for those cubed things that came out of a can as a kid. They had some specific name they seemed to be known by, but I can't remember...
