Lube it properly and this wouldn't happen...

wasn't serviced with the proper tool.

I hear Wayne's working on a retrofit kit and there's a class action lawsuit in the pipeline.

This is meant to be a sports car key fob. Read light, agile, performance oriented.
Its obviously over loaded, way too many keys. Operating beyond design specs = failure.
You brought this all on yourself.

But hey, HD... worry not, because all you need to do is drop that thing off at the upholstery shop and they can fix you up with a heavy duty reman.

My Dad's original key ring is designed very similar and holding up well. Then again, its spent more of than half of its life sitting on a shelf as opposed to being in a pocket or the ignition.

i think the FOB is just trying to get away from all those "house" keys. :)

HD, I'm not trying to turn this into one of those epic "yours is a modern mass produced factory.... and mine's an old classic REAL one built by engineers..." mass-debate.

BUT it is rather interesting that after decades of abuse (carrying house keys, lost in the garage, jeans pocket crammed in with mobile phone, in pocket while on hot date...) it shows no signs of distress and is crying out for track time.

I'll guess landlord, I have a ring of keys like that for a building as well.

Did you get a PPI before purchase?

applies to Italian makes only - Porsche key fobs need to survive 24 hr endurance races -- race after race... this one didn't
