66 mustang?
I was offered to buy a 66 mustang, originally owned by an old lady from Pasadena. It has a rebuild motor 16 thousands miles ago. Her husband owned it until he passed away several years ago. they are the original owner with no kids. My real estate agent / friend a few houses down from us offered it to me. This is her personal friend. They want 16K for it. the thing is pristine as far as she knows. I haven't seen it yet and I know nothing about those cars.

Find out what "several" years ago means, and if she's been driving and maintaining it since then. You know what happens to the gas tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, etc. if it's been sitting half full for a long time.

Can't tell you more but its not a conv., and it has been sitting for aobut 5 years. No pics unless if I was really interested I'd go see it and take some for you to view. What's a common one like that cost without knowing about all the details compare to a rare one? She wants to sell to someone who will take care of it, not just some dumb ass with a few bucks in his pocket. I told her to talk to the woman up the street who owns an original Calif. Special. I don't think they will buy it, but are those worth any money?

Completely equipment-dependent. They sold 600,000 of them in 1966,
 , so basically they are the least-rare collectible car on the planet. Any notchback, (regular hardtop), is a dime-a-dozen car unless it's a K-code, (289/271HP).Convertibles are almost as super-common as hardtops. Fastbacks are far rarer and the most desirable model. A FB with a V-8 is worth dough. A FB K-code is worth a lot. A notchback is about a $10k car w/ normal V-8 if it's in showroom condition. Just check eBay completed auctions. There are about a thousand of them on there everyday.

If in great shape, it's a really cool car that can be modded for a $fraction of P-car costs from a nearly endless number of sources! Coupes are even better buys and many of the early T/A cars were coupes. If it's rusty, move along.

In my opinion, the '66 Fastback is the best looking Mustang of all time.
But Nostril is spot on..when it comes to drivability, it's no Bullitt...

$16k is a lot of money for that car. You can get a real nice one that is completely sorted for that price.
It annoys me how people over-value their old POS cars. Just because it is a classic and you have seen a "similar" model sell for 50k on the TV auction, it doesn't mean your rotten / needs everything / base model project car is worth half that.  G |

We don't know whether it's a coupe or a fastback or which engine at this point...
Tabby, you ought to know there's only one '68 movie car left...owned by a recluse who won't sell, won't show it. Lots of clones out there, though...and you're right about the stock suspension & brakes with a 390. Not exactly stellar stuff...
