Open a meadery ??

I was working in Omaha last month and I met up with an old friend I used to work with at the UP rail road. He went in 50% on a meadery and the place is a major success! I just thought it was funny... Who would have thought to open a freakin meadery. In Nebraska. Some people are really good at finding a niche and turning it into something. I am not one of them.

In the age of mass-produced, mass consumption, I think the only high margins anymore are in specialty niches - sounds like your friend found one.

I've never had Meade -- but would happily try it.

Hey why not?

Regular wineries do OK but there's lots of competition. What about honey beer?

I would like to produce something that is the best. I just don't know what that something is yet.

WE just finished making wine. Five carboys. We make beer too. But my favorite it the meade. Like champagne only better. When the opportunity presents itself, we like to have a little Sunday brunch and open a quart bottle of meade. Now that's the way to start a day!

The Anglican Friars were renowned for copying manuscripts, and making beers.
Still are.
