Where do I consign my 997S?

I was at a broker looking at cars today. I'm going to pick up a 2010 MB E350. We talked a bit about my current car (05, 997S), and the guy told me that I should consign it. I was thinking that same, but where? He said they would do it for a flat $1500 fee. I don't recall what I was told at the local P-car shop (Barrier), but I know it was higher than that.

Any thoughts on an independent broker vs a dealership?

If anyone is interested:

2005 997S
22.5K
Tiptronic
Loaded with options including Nav.
Mechanically perfect, just had major service done.
Good rubber, Brakes F70%/R90%

Has a few dings and a scrape under the nose, but I'll have those sorted prior to sale.

Most independents I've worked with will let you name your price, then add a markup. If a serious offer comes in below ask, the dealer will call you and ask if you'll accept $xx.

So what do you want for that thing? Just curious, it's not for me.

It's a looker.

Not posted with any sarcasm, of course.

Yep. At $22.5k, I and nearly everyone else in the blogosphere would be interested. It's about $35-40k car, I'm guessing w/o looking it up.

I don't know the answer to your question, just want to wish you good luck with the sale. That is a beautiful car.

Yeah, that's exactly what tipped me off. I'm looking at it thinking, duh, the price is right there, typetypetype post. Wait, 22.5k? I'll buy it, even if it is a tip! Oh, he means miles...

Alright, I'll be the one: Why are you selling it, OnewhippedHD?

Paul, you are a bad boy. My guess... it's a planned sale, same as always with Obi Wan HD. The warrantee is nearing its end, so he got everything all spiffed up and ready for the next owner.

Or here's a crazy idea: research exactly what it's worth today. That will take about 30 minutes tops on the interweb. List it on eBay and CL, (both free to list although eBay will charge you if you sell it).

Step 2: screen buyers who call and sell car. Done.

HD is way ahead of the curve, that I know, trust me: Unless you factor in that I bought a car from Onewhippedpuppy

Ponderous.

That is a really nice car, HD. If my foot wasn't so heavy, I'd be interested. As it is, I survive below 100HP in the '62.

Best with the sale.

Because it has a Tiptronic and HD's boyfriend wanted a "stick"?!

You know me too well. It came off warranty 3 weeks ago

I'm just selling for more space. I've been carting my daughter around in my 911, and that works fine because she is small for her age. But her friends are getting too tall. I also need to kart around 3 kids sometimes, and that means driving my wifes *shudder* Lexus RX330. I hate driving that thing. Gutless turd.

I'm going to find a 2010 Mercedes E350 4matic. I had an 06 E350, and I loved that car.

I think the 997 is worth $42-44k.
