A friend who worked as a server used to call it swampwater.

As for my Pelican name the 162 used to be my car # for DE. (Now it's 71). I can't be bothered changing it.

My best friends's daughter was born while I was going through my divorce. I spent a lot of time with him, his wife, and the baby during that time. I used to get her laugh out loud by saying Oh-Haha. (This is from the 2 Budweiser lizard commercials from that period, Frank and Louie.)

I always told her that I would get that on my license plate when I finally was able to get a 911.

When I finally found the SC, I kept my word and got the plate. While I have sinced changed it out for PORSCHA, I still have the OH HAHA plate.

The little girl is now 15 and on her way to great things in the music world.

Silly maybe but that was a pretty dark time for me and spending time with them helped me get through it.

Dogface is an old military term for a bedraggled foot soldier but it was taken by someone, but I can't find out who or if it's still in use. I'm a Veterinarian so I just put DR in front... simple as that...

My family has owned our 1923 Stutz since before I was born in 1956. It became mine upon my Grandparents death about 15-18 years ago. At that time I went from Stutzdriver to Stutzowner but the Stutzdriver was an old CB handle from the 1970s, I have used it for my first email addys and many other things over the years.

What the hell!?! We didn't have to use our real names?

All this time I thought all you were a bunch of weirdos with really unique names.

I was following this railroading board for a while (until they started charging) and everyone had hobo names like "West Coast Fred" or "Oklahoma Joe". They would write it on the side of boxcars and the cars would travel the nation.

So I am Virginia Steve. People I know from the track pronounce it "V A Steve" which is how I think of it now as well.

LOL!

As for mine, I have been fascinated by planes since before I could talk (according to my parents). After my eyesight turned out to be less than fighter-pilot quality (and after I realized I was a lover, not a fighter ) I got more into cars, but I still love airplanes. I've only flown for a couple half-hour jaunts in a 172, once at Oshkosh. I find cars to be more exciting due to the canyon roads around here and since I don't have a Super Decathlon or something aerobatic. I still dream about building an experimental. Probably a Long-EZ or something sporty. I almost majored in Aeronautical Engineering but went into Mechanical instead.

And Flieger means "pilot" or just "flier" auf Deutsch. I only use Flieger on Pelican and the Early 911S Registry. My handle on flickr is Max_911S_fahrer.

Bazza (or Baz) is the nickname I was given by some Australian house guests of mine in the early 80's.

Back then NSB was an official stop on the Association of Surfing Professionals and on that occasion we had the pro surfing contest I had extra room & opened up my place for the head of competition (Aussie 'Fatty' Al Hunt), the Aussie judge (Terry Day aka T'day), the South African judge (Tim Williams), plus a couple pro surfers (Aussie Greg "Little Ando" Anderson and Mike Lambresi from Cal.)

My house was the 'unofficial' headquarters for traveling pro surfers to stop and check in with the competition officials for a whole week...it was unreal. Was made an honorary ASP member and everything.

Living with the Aussies for a week was a real experience, let me tell you...ha ha...I could tell you stories!

Anyway....the morning they left they stuck a miniature Aussie flag in one of my house plants with a nice thank you note addressed to "Bazza"....and the rest is history!

My OTHER passion in life is what I also happen to do for a living: fly. Cruise speed of the jet I used to fly was about 450 knots (it's about 480 in the plane I fly nowadays...), sooooo

Flour/oil mixture used as the basis of much Cajun cooking. (Never rush a good roux)
