I think you will find that Jaguars always were(except once rotted out-just like any American car then) and still are, pretty strong cars bodily.

Was the Boxster struck from the rear after it struck the 300? Looks like heavy damage to both ends. Pretty astonishing the driver is not deceased.

I've known some First Responders during my life. Their stories reduce me to tears. Apparently when they first arrive at the scene their training takes over, and they focus on doing what needs to be done. But then later... *sigh*

They are special people. I wonder if they know that?

Just to continue the story . . .

The driver - 30 yr old woman - hit one vehicle, drove through part of a soccer field, went back on the road & sped south & had the 2nd accident. She has had multiple surgeries & has brain trauma. Luckily the drivers & passengers in the other cars only had relatively minor injuries.

The reporter logged into Rennlist yesterday & tried to make contact with the Rennlister who is related to the driver . . .

Wow even at 100km that car crushed badly at the doors, I think it wouldn't pass a crash safety test.

I haven't tried death yet, but I tend to agree.

I met a fellow a few years ago at a the Emory campout. I actually met his son first. The son was very gregarious and struck up a conversation. It was evident quickly that he had been brain injured. We visited with the father over the course of the event. The son's injury had been extensive, and altered his life forever. There was a very long stay in a rehabilitation clinic where, as severe as the son's injuries were, there were many people much worse off. People who would never recover, never care for themselves, never communicate, etc. The father told me something that day that has always stuck with me.

He said "when you see (severely brain injured people) you realize that there are things alot worse than the big dirt nap. Alot worse..."

For the son, his injury, serious as it was, did allow for a certain amount of recovery. I ran into him a few years later (at the same event). Didn't realize who he was. There was a band playing and he asked me to dance. Never one to turn down a dance, I accepted! Afterward, I realized who it was and actually cried with joy. He had recovered enough that he could dance! I will remember the father, his son, and that joyous dance for the rest of my life.

Great story, Angela! The BIL in the rennlist thread would probably be happy to hear it. His SIL isn't doing too well.

Yes it would appear to be the Porsche drivers fault. However, if the 300 driver had checked the intersection when the lights changed, no collision.
I tell all my students ALWAYS check the intersection even if your light has been green for a while. One day someone will run a red on you. It might be the day before your 60th birthday, or at the next set we go through.

Or...you might find yourself in Californai, where light running seems to be the rule.
