it might be Athenia. I know the record has 5 attachment on the spider and the crank arm was not part of that. This is going off memory. As a matter of fact, I really don't think its Record.

I was wondering record vs. super record, etc. This came off a bike I bought (used) in 1988- so I was thinking mid 80's. The 165 cranks were the first to come off- it was like pedalling a hamstercage.
- the rest of the gruppo was record, but I thought Athena was later.. but what do I know... This was back when I was in high school!

^That might make sense now that you mention it. This was built by a coworker in a bike shop, who hardly ever rode it, so it might be 88'ish. I bought in in either late 88 or early 89 over the holidays.

Hamster cage? Well, that will help with your form

in the late 90s, I was just getting out of Campy (their crappy clicking shifting system) into Dura Ace. That left a bad taste in my mouth and they were $$$. I was in my first year or two of college, so bike fund was thin.

She thinks it might be Chorus, but I believe those were 5 spider with offset crank 'arm'.
I'll see if the vintage campy site has a catalog listing / illustration.

Thanks!
That picture got me looking at the backside-
it is not machined out, and the fifth chainring bolt is interesting in that it does not engage the crankarm itself/ is that what you mean?:

Agree that they're late 80's record, the spider got thinned out in 91 92 at the latest. I have 92's...

Never mind. Some research on velobase shows that that is a Record crank from 84-95. The redesign was in 96. Mine are indeed 96.
