I miss F1 !
I wish there was something going on in F1., it's a very dull time of year
for racing and I miss F1 most of all. This is all I got. Grosjean to partner Kimi again. Hope he does well and makes some of those passes that he's not scared to try. Massa raring to go, I hope he does well., in fact I hope he blows the door off Alonso. And Barrichello quits Indycars for Brazilian stock car racing. Anybody got any news on anything else? |

I still have three of the races on my DVR. The sound of the engines helps me fall asleep when I've got bad insomnia.

Every weekend I spend a ” full weekend” on F1 2012 with my Ps3, force feedback wheel, pedals, seat all laid out in f1 style......laying back feet high....
it is a true fix.....

I went to the first Rennsport Reunion when it was held at Lime Rock. My girlfriend (now wife) and I decided to camp at the track. Fortunately the weather was perfect that weekend. She told me the next morning that in the middle of the night some camper turned on their TV to a race, which they played at full blast. Woke up many. As she peeked out the tent to see what was going on as everyone was yelling at the DB to turn that s**t off, she looked over at me and noticed that I smiled in my sleep and rolled over.

Yep, this time of year is a drag. Phooey on Christmas and New Year's, come on March, come on Aussie GP! Of course the jury's out on how well the new broadcast outfit will do, but we shall see.

I hope Bernie stops replacing "tried and true" european tracks for the new tracks in middle east and far asia. Speaking of new tracks, seems everyone agrees that
Austin GP was one of the best all year. Beautiful track, hope it lasts. For awhile it looked like it wasn't going to happen but it was a great surprise how well it was received. Good on ya! |

Yea good luck with that. Asia and the ME are where the money is and along with it far fewer inhibitions of conspicuous consumptionism. In America and Europe it's all about austerity now and flagrant displays of wealth are met with scorn, disdain and ridicule. F1 doesn't fit in anymore.

Yeah, you're right , Bernie is certainly the "show me the money" kind of guy. Wonder whats going to happen if and when he's called to the big raceway up yonder. He's about a 150 yrs old so it could happen. Just sayin'. It might all fall apart over bickering. Hope not.

NBC has picked it up I believe. The question is, will they really devote that much time to have practice, quals and the race on prime time channels or will they put it on another channel?
Hope that Speed re-runs some of the older races this winter...

We have great coverage up here in Canada., For decades all the way back to
days when Lada, Watson, Andretti, Prost, Arnoux and especially Villenueve (Gilles) in the '70s we've had live Sunday coverage. For the past 20 or so years TSN has covered it live at 0830 Sunday or if it's Asian at 0200 or 0300 or whatever time zone THEN repeated at 0830 with tape delay. It has become ritual here at my house that raceday Sunday from 0830-1130 is visit at your own peril, because small talk during racing is greatly frowned upon. If you've got something to say, do it during commercials. Or make yourself useful, go get coffee! To enjoy F1 you are either into it or you're bored by it. I go far enough back to remember having to read Road & Track for Rob Walker's column coverage of the last months race. I still buy R & T but it's not the same of course. I think TSN first live race was Gilles' home victory at Montreal. They've covered F1 ever since. |
