Gonna buy a VOLT. I presume. Any opinins?

Hello.
I have been thinking about the Volt for awhile now.
My Son has almost sold me on it.

I figure it would be more than a major step in purchasing the regular vehicle.
Like a jump...on Crack.

I am very excited ..that is if I can find the right -well- used one.

Anyone out there with knowledge and experience on ownership?
Perhaps a friends, friend who owned one?

Last fall (a year ago), I was at a gas station filling up when one wheeled in next to me. I asked some questions about it and the the elderly guy who was driving it worked for a dealership that was transporting 3 of them from Tennesee to Northern Ohio. He said the electric motor worked great but only lasted about 40-50 miles, and he had been on gasoline ever since....he wasn't impressed with the performance, fuel mileage, or power and this was a $38,000 car.

I was driving a 2009 Chrysler Sebring that cost half as much new, got better mileage, and had more power with no expensive batteries to replace.

If you want for the sake of just wanting it, do it. Can't remember the correct quote by Kaisen, but something like "if it makes you happy get one?" But they have some problems in the cold weather so you don't see a lot of them here. I've seen one doing some odd sliding in the snow, thought maybe it was the weight distribution? Maybe the type of tires? Maybe driver...

But hey, you want one, get one.

They were only launched two years ago, only about 30K have been sold in the US, and most of those are less than 1 year old and the owner has 4 years of payments to go. I don't understand why you think you're going to find what you described. Seems crazy.

Actually there is one in for sale with front end damage for less than 15K$.
It needs about $4 k in parts. It is still drive-able.
My Son found this and it could be a bit of a project.

Shame they nixed the second owner tax credit, the one you found would be nearly free.

I recently read that something like 68 or 72% of Hybrid or Electric owner do NOT go back to another one but rather go with a high MPG conventional car.

Wonder why?
