The '62 had a kamm rear end as well..bobbed off flat. But what makes it unique to me is that it was the last year of the butt pounders, the live rear axle cars...

Does this mean that you refer to your live-axle Mustang as a "butt pounder"?

And we know you love your Mustang. Perhaps this explains a bit...

Well, in the old "butt pounder" 'Vetts, your butt was a lot closer to that live rear axle than it is in my Mustang...however...

Yep! I like it's "tied down" feel & ride. And for those who think a live axle car can't handle the twisties? May you find yourself trying to hang with a Boss 302 Mustang while canyon carving. My Bullitt is box stock but it handles highway twisties quite well...Probably why I haven't done the lowering coils, stiffer bars, shocks, and control arms route. At my old age, I figure it rides firm enough just as it is.

Funny. All this chat of old Vette's from a topic about the '14 and from a Porsche crowd. For those of us who sported flat top haircuts and the early cars, the Corvette was always a straight line machine. Then when we wore bell bottoms, long hair and side burns, Greenwood came along and finally made a serious threat on the road course. Yes, I realize of prior Penske efforts but Greenwood made use of aero work which really brought the attention to GM engineers.

I'll be happy in a few years when the new C7R, 918, and 458 are pounding around the track together. The one rendering I have seen of the new C7R in race trim is beautiful.

One of the reasons I love this interior so much, (aside from the impression it made on me at a very young age), is that there was nothing even remotely "cheap" about it. Just the opposite. One of the chief complaints about modern 'vettes is the low quality interior.

Even the european journalists of the time had some respect for the Corvette back then. I have an extensive vintage car magazine collection.

That C2 interior is pure sex (not to be confused with Paul's tied-down butt-pounders, not that there's anything wrong with that).

Don't confuse Randy....

Also my apology if Luby or others became overly excited with my references about "tied down" and "butt pounder"...

Nice video...Leno gives an impression beyond the usual stuff. More like a regular guy checking one out in a showroom.

"tied-down butt-pounders"

Isn't this illegal in most states?

Except California. NTTAWWT

Whatever happens between consenting adults in the privacy of their home...

I guess I gave my age away with the "tied down" suspension comment. It was pretty common back in the day.
