grew up drinking milk in school; parents were lactose intolerant so usually the kids drank the milk at home. Now the significant other doesn't drink it and buying it at costco = 2 gallons, we don't drink it anymore but I make fresh soy milk for us to drink and for cereal. Much better than the crap that comes in cartons.

Got to have a glass of milk and a chocolate chip cookie in the evening otherwise I become cranky.

1/2 gal of organic milk a week.

The nutritionist said it was good for me! Vitamin D and calcium.

Awww, milk and cookies... yum.
LOL, I'd give up beer before I give up milk. (as crazy as that sounds.)

Jack LaLane on milk...

Look, are you a suckling calf? Name one creature on earth that uses milk after it's weaned. Man's the only one. And man's the only one who lives out only half his life span. A cow has four stomachs. You don't. You can't handle whole milk.

Guy lived until 96. Just sayin'

Grew up on fresh whole milk right outta the cow from the dairy 5 miles down the road. We used to get it four glass gallon jugs at a time. Skimmed our own cream and occassionally my mom would churn butter like she did growing up.

I still drink whole milk and can go through a gallon in a week. My wife would prefer I went to 2% but, my med reports give her zero ammo for that fight.

Well, glad I'm not the only one!

I've seen organic milk for sale at my local store, but it's like $7-9/quart and I wouldn't remember to drink it often enough.

Out of curiosity: How many "lactose intolerant" people can tolerate cottage cheese/cheeses/sour cream/other?
Maybe it's not milk itself, but the brand or manufacturer.

I put about a half a shot glass of whole milk in my iced espresso every morning. That's about it. I grew up drinking lots of milk and my mom really believed that it was healthful. My dad drank it with dinner and put it in his coffee all his life, still does at 80.

I think that it's great for growing bodies and contains some essential vitamins, although they can be gotten elsewhere. Just not as easily as drinking milk. As an adult, I've lost a lot of my taste for drinking it by the glass.

I love drinking milk, stomach just can't handle it any more.

Cheese (which I probably eat way too much of) doesn't bother me, but straight milk is like poison.

No, I'm lactose intolerant, but I eat at least 1/2 gallon of homemade yogurt a week. The lactose in yogurt is partially broken down and I can tolerate that!

Lactose intolerant here. I cannot eat ice cream, drink milk, drink milk shakes, eat cheese cake, cream cheese, or regular yogurt.

I can eat Greek yogurt, hard cheese, sour cream, butter, and mozzarella.

With lactaid milk, or pills I can eat anything I want. I like milk and orange juice, milk and coffee, milk and tea.

LACTAID® Lactose-Free Dairy Products - LACTAID®

Quote:

Can LACTAID® Products help you with dairy sensitivity? If you have lactose intolerance, the answer is yes! But you may not be sure what’s causing your sensitivity. Is it lactose intolerance, milk allergies or Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)? Here´s a brief overview on all three conditions:

Lactose intolerance: A deficiency of a natural enzyme called lactase in the body which can cause symptoms of gas, bloating and diarrhea when foods with lactose are eaten. Lactase is needed to fully digest lactose, a sugar found mainly in dairy products.

IBS: An intestinal disorder that causes abdominal discomfort and symptoms like diarrhea and constipation. The exact cause of IBS is unknown.

Milk allergies: When the immune system doesn´t recognize one or more proteins in dairy products—most commonly whey and casein—as being harmless.

LACTAID® Products help people with lactose intolerance to digest and enjoy dairy. But as with any medical diagnosis, you should talk to your doctor.
