On a much $maller scale but...I occasionally have lunch with my dad at a place where one of his ex-coworkers (blue collar types) goes. Dad says the guy (and his wife's) goal was to amass 1 million worth of rental houses to leave for each of their five children...then they were gonna "retire" and spend their time traveling. Nuthin' wrong with that except... Dad says the only travelling "she" ever did was over to Duke for chemo before she passed over...old dude is worth millions and it's pretty sad imo.

That doesn't make any sense to me.
The owners of my company are prolly worth that as well...they work 12 to 15 hour days 6 days a week easy. They understand and bust their tails and yet frankly they don't have too.

Its not the money, its really not the money...

I agree, yesterday I played (horribly) Golf at a Private Club. The house on the Course were friggin Huge! One was 40,000sf, I would get lost in the place.

But on the other side of the Coin

A Member at the Club joined our foursome, rode in my Cart, & he was a retired VP of Anheiser Busch - super nice guy.

Also on the Driving Range before the Round, I was hitting next to Fred McGriff, Great Baseball player (I hope he makes the Hall of Fame, but he is caught up in going against guys that were Roid'd up), and he is a Super Nice Guy.

My College GF's Father was President of Revlon and my friends told me I was nuts when I broke with her. In hindsight and compared to the Psycho I was Married to, maybe it was a Bad Move

The man that started this company told me that for the last twenty years of coming to work he was comforted in know that if he decided to just lock the doors and close the business it was no big deal. Everything he owned was paid for, and he had enough money to never need to work. In his own words "I took early retirement at age 92" just because he was finally ready. He is 97 now and still enjoying life. He worked only because he wanted something productive to do.

He is no billionaire but he lives in a nice custom home and buys a new car every other year. He just writes a check. He is a super nice guy.

A guy that I used to work with used to go raccoon hunting in AR with his brother and some of the locals. On one trip there was a nice older man that was introduced as "Sam", who drove an older Ford truck and seemed no different than any of the other blue collar crowd. After the hunt was over, "Sam" said his goodbyes and drove away. At that point my coworker's brother informed him that "Sam" was billionaire Sam Walton. Just a normal guy that happened to be wildly successful, I always found that to be pretty cool. Sadly his company has pretty drastically detoured from Sam's original vision.
