iPad question...

....anyone know how to disable the "auto-rotate" feature on the screen?

Or put 4 fingers on the screen and move them up the screen so you see the brightness adjustment. Slide left and touch the lock. That will also lock the screen

Instead of using four fingers, you can also double click the button.

None of these tips seem to work. I'm using a first generation iPad. Does that make a difference??

Can't you also disable it from within settings?

And if you double click the button, does a new little thing pop up on the bottom of the screen?

And once that apps/icons section pops up, you should be able to slide it over until you see some settings. I believe one of those settings is to lock the orientation.

Here, instructions complete with pictures.

iPad: Understanding the side switch

That's the problem, his side switch is being used to mute not lock rotation. He just needs to change it. I don't think you can use it to do both symoltaineeyuslee.

So is there the shortcuts posted before with the 2nd Gen? I've been thinking of getting one.

Double tap home button. Swipe the right. In the left corner the is a box with a circular arrow. Click it and rotation will lock.
