Crazy Neighbors thread

Seems like we all have them.
My nearest neighbor is completely inept at just about everything. He had a lawnmower with what appeared to be leprosy. Every few weeks something would fall off of it. It finally got so bad he bought a brand new mower. There is a wheel squeaking so loud from lack of lube that I can hear it 50 yards away and he is oblivious. I would mention it to him but:
Last year he set his woods on fire. I called 911 and ran over and told him his woods was on fire and told him I had called the FD. He just said, "OK" and went back in the house. The fire was so close it blistered the paint on his house, but he never went outside while the FD was there.
Last week one of his trees fell on a power line by the road about 25 yards from his house and was sparking and smoking. Exact same story. He just said OK and went back into his house while I stood on the road and stopped traffic..
I don't think the guy is dangerous, but he is odd.

I think I saw your neighbor's post on another website... 'I have this neighbor that keeps spying on me. I purposely make the wheel on my lawn mower squeek because it drives him crazy. I lit a tire fire in the bush behind my house and just sat back and watched the festivities as he arranged for emergency service to put it out.'

Our neighbors are driving my wife nuts with curiosity. He is a divorced retired Air Force officer. He has a yard service keep his yard in top shape. He does not have junk piled up. He is quiet and minds his own business.

What is driving my wife crazy is he will rent a U-haul van or sometimes a panel truck and park in it his driveway for a week. This has been going on for over a year. The van will go away for several weeks and come back for a week or more.

We can't imagine why he would rent a van for a week at a time and park it and not move it all week. It is in his driveway and not in anyones way except his.

I figure whatever he does with the U-hauls is not my business. He is quiet and not bothering us and he his not asking for me to help him load or unload anything so I don't care.

Breaking Bad, motorhome? He's cooking meth in the U-Haul and when he's done he just returns it. Cheaper then owning a motor home and less problem storing it.

My drunken know it all neighbor just fell face first into my ditch.

Saturday night, it was late, about midnight. Kid was asleep, and I was cleaning up a little before I go to bed, when I hear this gawd afwul sound coming down the road. I went outside, and see what looks like a spaceship coming down the road.
As it gets closer, I can tell it is a vehicle with more than one flat tire, and headlights pointing up into the sky.
I watch it crawl down the road, sparks flying from the rims, and lo and behold, ir turns right into my neighbors driveway.
Next morning, I see two flats, and the whole side, of Paul's Jeep caved in. He had a few too many, and smacked a telephone pole. I have personally dragged him out of the ditch twice now, and I know for sure that he has no license , 2 year suspension for multiple DUI's. Arshoele is going to kill someone some day.
I'm not one to be a snitch, but I always let my cop buddy know that he is still driving every day and to keep his eye peeled for him.

I'm glad I have a road, two fences and conservation land as neighbors.

Our nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile away and fortunately they are good people.

U-huals make great temp storage when doing stuff inside the house that requires you to empty rooms.

My old neighbor Charlie was more cranky than crazy but entertaining in his own way.

He was a NYC bus driver and one of his 3 daughters was a Pampers baby. Modeled for the packaging.

It paid well enough for the family to move out to a small house in a an upper middle class neighborhood in the burbs.

We shared a small strip of grass between our driveways. Maybe 2 feet wide at the bottom and 5-6 feet wide at the top.

When Charlie cut his grass he used to cut it straight down the middle leaving my half uncut. It was more effort than if he'd just cut the whole thing in two passes.

And he had to get down and up anyway so he was already making two passes.

My friend Tim used to keep his track car at my place.

One day he gets back from Englishtown at around 10:00. Knowing how cranky Charlie is he tries his best to make as little noise as humanly possible backing the trailer onto the side of the house. I was home and did not hear a thing.

About 3 in the morning I wake up to what sounds like shotgun blasts. Open my bedroom window to see what was going on and hear Charlie's wife yelling at him, "Charlie, Charlie, what the **** are you doing?"

Apparently Tim made too much noise for Charlies liking so Charlie sat up till 3 am then pulled his car out of the garage and was standing there opening and slamming the car door repeatedly.

I closed my window and went back to bed.

Man, first a lawnmower at 5 acres, now a squeaky wheel at 50 yards.

I'm convinced, you have the hearing of a German Shepard.

My genius neighbor:

- has a shed in the rear with old tires stacked on top
- cuts his grass every six weeks (at best)
- parks three or four cars wide on his front grass
- has a dead JD riding mower sitting in the back yard for three years, used it one year
- is an ignorant slob

I only have one next-door neighbor, a widow with her two older daughters. They keep to themselves just like I do.

All my other neighbors are across the street in one direction or the other. I've lived there 20 years and our relationship is to nod hello as we pass by. Once in a while there might be some polite conversation but its short and light, and no one asks to borrow my tools.
It works perfectly.
I mind my own bidness and they do the same.

The only real trouble in the neighborhood I can remember was many years ago some fool invited a bunch of porsche guys to meet at his house before they went on a canyon run and they turned his street into a drag strip. Then afterward they followed him home and drank his beer.

It took a year or so for "those" looks to fade away

My neibour is a thief.

He lives two doors over. Last summer the family that lived 6 doors down the street dog (Great Dane) started to bark at 3:30am. They look out and the man door of the garage is open. It was padlocked (broken open) and their daughters bike is missing. They call the cops and make a report. Detectives are supposed get back to them. The next day the daughter (12 yrs old) see's a kid (8-10 yrs old) riding her bike (kids know there own bikes) and runs home to get her mom. Mom goes storming out and see's the kid taking the bike into the house two doors over. She opens the door and grabs the bike as the kid is trying to put it in the basement. Kid says the bike is his, his dad got it for him. Threats of police and kid gives up bike. Two weeks later mom, daughter and rest of family move 6 hrs away. Police never get back to them.

About a week after this happens another neibour gives me a bunch of material to recycle. One of the items is a iron leg bench. Sides are iron and wood slates between them. One leg is broken making it unusable. It's too late to unload the stuff in my back yard (don't want to wake the nice neibour's kids)so I leave it all on the truck till the next day.

The next day my next door neibour comes over to talk while I'm unloading the stuff out back and I get everything off and the broken leg from the bench is last thing I unload. I laugh and remark to him that someone stole the broken bench off the truck overnight. An hour later he phones me and tells me to look two yards over. So I go outside and climb the motorhome ladder and see the broken bench two yards over. I take pictures and print them of the bench in the thief's yard and the broken leg that is still in my possession and off to the police I go to make a report. I make the report and hand over the pictures all the detectives need to do is come get the leg I have and match it to the bench in the thief's yard and minimum they have him for possession of stolen property or theft by finding. I never hear from the detectives.

Winter passes. The thief's wife/gf leaves him and takes kids with her. Pile of kids toys in front yard and I see her and some other guy carrying furniture out of house tells me this.

Spring happens and I see the guy who lives across the lane from me. He had installed a video camera that captures behind his garage. He says "you were right about the thief ...... I caught him on camera stealing the block heater cord off my wife's car." He went and pounded on the thief's door and demanded it back. He's a big guy who works in a tattoo shop.

Last week I painting the third floor exterior of my house and the thief comes over wanting to "borrow" a air line. I told him to F***off and that I don't help people that steal from me. He gets a bit upset. He comes in and out of his house over the next couple of hours. Stares at me then yells "I'm not a thief". Last time he comes out and says "Someone broke into my truck last night, I'm going to tell the cops you did it"

I told him you go right ahead buttercup......

When our "neighbors from hell" were evicted from their scheissshack, they left their dog behind. That really says it all, doesn't it?

1. My neighbors one one side are a middle aged lesbian couple, and they're awesome. No pics necessary, don't worry.

2. On the other side, a nice couple from Texas. They play praise music on their outdoor stereo when they have BBQs. That's about all I know. Not like Lincoln Brewster, either. Like . . . Hymns.

3. My neighbors across the alley. . . 4 late '20s guys, two in Med school. They had a fence builder come and put a 6' security fence between their house and the spot where they all park their cars.

And yes you guessed it, the day after the fence was finished all 3 cars were broken into.

One of said geniuses had his LAPTOP, IPAD, and GLOCK 40 stolen from his truck. Make up your own mind about how smart he is. Hope the fence guy enjoys his new toys.
