James Bond would most likely look more like Daniel Craig than say....Pierce Brosnan or Roger Moore. Connery was great but one of the great aspects of Bond IMO is the resiliency of the story franchise. I personally like the evolution of the main characters.

The character "Kincade", the innkeeper when he first sees Bond says "James......Jaaaames Bond!" He was surprised to see him again. He does not refer to him as 007. The role was expertly done by Albert Finney, another actor that I always enjoy.

The new Bond girl, Berenice Lim Marlohe, absolutely captivated me. I will look forward to her in other movie roles.

Well Bond isn't about real life MI6, it would be a lot less enjoyable to watch.
Intelligence work is for the most part boring and waiting around for your assets to work for you.. spies rarely infiltrate themselves.. They certainly don't drive Aston Martin's or ware tailored suits...
Bond is not about Mi6, it's about what Ian Fleming came up with for reading pleasure. Turned viewing pleasure later.

I agree with the obvious. Bond is a fictional character. MI-6 is what they are.

Is Jack Ryan going to help steal a Soviet nuclear sub? Mmmm....maybe not.

On the other hand, if a person tried to watch movies with a stick up his bum, then all of this fantasy stuff would be so childish.

David Niven (one Bond movie) probably looked most like Fleming's Bond. Connery somewhat.

I really like Daniel Craig. But this wasnt one of his best. When I watch a Bond film I want to see action, cool stuff, and hot women (which in this day and age should be showing more skin!). This movie did not deliver.

Did not like the inference that Bond had tasted the skin flute. Hopefully he was just trying to not be one-upped by the bad guy. But in reality, it was probably throwing a bone (giggity) to the gay crowd.

Fleming wrote Bond to be like him as the spy he wanted to be.
Fleming was a dandy.

Lazenby was a dandy, Craig is closer to "thug" then to "dandy".
there is not one scene in any Daniel Craig Bond movie where he looks remotely elegant enough to be a true James Bond..
He's to short, to muscular and his head looks like he's a bouncer in a night club, you can never get the idea of "pitbull" ready to bite out of the scene when he is in it.
And that's just not Bond like.

The franchise has hopelessly derailed, it's so far away from what Ian Fleming had in mind, it's a sad thing really.

Good to bring this up. EVERY Bond enthusiast should read the book The Life of Ian Fleming by John Pearson (written in 1966). I finally got around to reading it just this last year. It might make one change their thinking of Bond, his feelings (Bond character) and what Fleming himself was about, fantasy, relationships and will add... complications from alcohol. You also get an idea of the mechanicals -- how the Bond story came to be, writing, book deals to TV and the movies. Well worth the read.

Personally,( save Quantum of Solace-which was a mess) , Craig's Casino Royale and Skyfall are the best two bond flicks since the early (pre Diamonds Are Forever )Connery era.

I do like OHMSS also-Lazenby had potential, too bad he quit after one ( or was removed, depending on the story)

The Living Daylights was OK, but Dalton (good actor) is a weird fit.

The Moore and Brosnan movies were often just too silly.

In my opinion, Craig's Bond has revitalized the series. I like Ralph Fiennes as the new "M".

Looking forward to the next one.

I rented it last night I liked it allot, sorry to see M go I liked her character. I am also suprised not more skin but we can really see that any where. I thought they did good job of making bond look old and worn out . Well done

I realize this is an old thread but as to Fleming's idea of what Bond Looked like - he actually mentioned it a couple of times in the novels: like Hoagy Carmichael (but with a scar on his cheek).
