Get off my lawn!

What reaction do you think this commercial would get today??
If I had a bunch of spare cash laying around I would love to market something like this to see the media reaction. ![]() It reminds me of the Maimway toys from the days when Saturday Night Live was funny.

I bet there are still lawyers out there, looking for a way to sue someone over this.

No wonder Americans think a gun is the solution to every problem. $5.98 was a lot of money then (when I was a kid). A kid whose parents could afford that was livin' in tall cotton. Someone to be looked up to.
Today that would be a comedy skit.

Amen, Brother!
Much more freedom back then...we spoke & acted freely w/o gagging on the self-consciousness & self-censor of today's Cultural Marxism (originating in the early '60s). Seminars (EST, MindSpring, I-am-athon, The Forum, etc.) came into being back in the early '70s with a basic message of freedom from the binds of the PC movement (Cultural Marxism). We were shown that we didn't have to take responsibility for each others' internal experiences...that each individual was responsible for their own interiority...responsible for what we heard, how it went in, & what we did with it. If someone claimed to be "offended", it was suggested that they see a therapist. Those days, and that simple message, were the dying quiver of true individual freedom in America, IMO. . Don't get me started.

Some might say that the way we trivialized gun play is why we're the way we are now. Not me...but some.

Perhaps "how we are now " was too lazily phrased. IMHO some people turn to guns far to readily to solve their problems. This may be from the combination of mental illness and having trivialized gun play

Angst, frustration, feelings of helplessness. Our society deemed it improper to speak out, and to speak up. Our society tells us that we cannot speak our mind without being persecuted for unpopular speech. Our society tells us we cannot punch a guy who deserves it without going to jail.
So, rather than punching a guy, the emotional turmoil builds inside each of us and has led us to where we are today. Simply put, people bottle their emotions and their anger. Some people are better at keeping the bottle capped, but sometimes the bottle breaks and people die. IMO, If there were no guns, there would be another tool to lash out with. You could argue that the guns make killing easier. It would be much harder to have a mass murder scene armed with a ballbat.
