Daytona: explain debris caution flags......
They seem to come in very timely fashion... or am I naive...

Did you happen to see several cars hitting a silver, metal looking object that was on the track,..........that was debris from another car that fell off after an earlier accident. A caution was thrown to let the safety workers remove it from the track before it was flung into the crowd like on Saturday.

That's one of the controversies. Sometime you see nothing on TV so it looks suspicious. Sometimes it sits out there for many laps and the drivers call it in hoping to get a caution when they need one/tired/running out of tires. Smetimes drivers chuck a water bottle out to create a caution. The one today was a definite debris caution.

I've come to the conclusion that the "debris" is often rubber marbles on the track that are making passing difficult. They clean it up to make the race more exciting.

At times it seems sketchy, but at nearly 200 mph a flat tire can cause a situation like they had in the Nationwide race so NASCAR shouldn't take any chances.

Cup race was way more exciting without a GWC. Excitement was also fueled by "are they going to throw the caution...?". GWC on Saturday was the result of a wreck already. Ending a race under caution sucks. The plate tracks, cars are in a bunch anyway....other tracks GWC is more relevant to bunching the field.
