As i age, it is getting shorter and shorter.
i think it was 8"s when i was in my early teens. maybe even 10"!
then for my young adult life, 6", and it stayed that way for a long long time. my 30's, early 40's. it got shorter!! now? if i clutch it in my hand the tip doesnt even poke out!! my choice in knife blade lengths has gotten shorter!! i found as i aged, i got smarter and didnt need such a long knife blade. i carry a 4" blade now and can get most jobs done! my current carry is a 3" Case folding knife, and i love it. i am agonizing about my next purchase. i kinda want to go longer again. been thinking about a Bark River. this one is 4.25" (man, a 6 incher would be really cool too!" they make the same knife in 6" called..hahahha..the MAGNUM) ![]() dont laugh, but i have a coin jar filled with coins..and a piece of paper inside that says, Knife Fund.

Probably because you've been wearing it down to a nub.

They say that size doesn't that matter, but we all took a vote and it does. If you are too short, you could always try a mechanical stretcher.
Of course, those things aren't really my bag.

Hey, as long as it fits in the sheath, it is long enough.
For whittling, shorter is definitely better. For all around household chores, I find a folding razor knife to be the best. Last edited by mreid; 03-05-2013 at 01:17 PM.. |

I'm sure Janet will chime in on your dilemma.

When the sheath asks "who's that going to please", your only answer is "ME".

Nomination for thread of the year! This is way better than those poopie threads. Although we probably should do another poopie thread just to make sure...
