Austin MotoGP

I'll be in Austin April 19-21. Where is the good food? In particular I want to get the best BBQ available.

Go to Stubbs BBQ. It's on 8th st. I believe so it's not that bad of a walk. Excellent BBQ.

A town called lockhart is about an hour away from the track. They are the holy grail for texas bbq. If you have transport these are the best. The two best are Smitty's market and krueze's market. Enjoy.

About 20 minutes south of the track on US 183 (or if you take the toll road about 12 minutes-85mph!) is BBQ heaven in Lockhart. I say follow the signs to Blacks. Had them all, it's the best in town. Blacks has an awesome beef rib and equally great brisket, sliced or chopped.

In Austin, I believe the best BBQ to be House Park at 12th and Lamar, but many say it's Franklin BBQ on 11th street. If you are willing to travel a bit to Driftwood (approx 30 mins from the track), the Salt Lick has a great atmosphere, good BBQ, but not great.

If you are looking for the best pulled pork, let me know and I'll fire up the smoker.

One of our favorites when I lived in Austin was the Coupland Inn in the little town of Coupland about 1/2 hour outside of Austin. It's been about 25 years since I've been there so I don't know if the quality still stands.
