Steering problem with the Taco

2006 Tacoma 95,000 miles. The steering has become heavy rather suddenly (not overnight but I've only noticed it the past two days) it seems. It seems to be mostly when I turn right. It doesn't return to neutral after completing the turn.

Given that it's only on the right I don't think it's the pump or master cylinder. So maybe it's a thing with the rack?

What do you guys think?

yeah, sounds like a rack issue.

Should cover a steering rack, unless it's just a powertrain warranty. Check your coverage- and to make sure the warranty company is still in business... I seriously doubt Toyota would step up for something like this.

There's a TSB for pulling. Not sure of the cause. Several others for rattling: Service Bulletin 165331 for Toyota STEERING | AutoMD
2006 Toyota Tacoma Steering Service Bulletin 165331
"Repair manual supplement: vehicle pulling to one side. Toyota all model years. *mj 2002 - 2007 model years. Toyota/scion models."

Besides the rack (more dangerous), it could be anything in the suspension.

Rust you say. Hope your frame looks better than this.
2003 double cab.....was told by Toyota they wouldn't do anything for me because i didn't get my frame sprayed with their miracle juice.

A long flat piece of metal?
That's the easiest welding fix in the book, which only requires some thick plate....or lightweight I-beams with a cross of tubular to take it into 3D.

What happened with the extended warranty? Did you take the truck to a dealer? If so, I'd get a second opinion at a reputable independent.

I plated both sides (other side was cracked too) and a new cross member.
Last month i was hauling a used motor in the back of the taco to put into my daughters car when all of a sudden the back of the truck jumps into the air.
I look back in the mirror and there's my spare tire laying in the middle of the road
About a week later i get a notice for a recall on the spare tire carrier
