Parts for domestics, especially older ones, are silly cheap.

The shipping is a few bucks.

I had a brand new, not remanafactured or rebuilt 350 delivered to my office for right at $1,700 total. 20,000 miles later it still runs great.

That is a crate engine!

Yea, my entire El Camino was built in Mexico. I figure the new engine was from the same factory the vehicle was made in.

The one thing that has always puzzled me is why all the fitting on the body are metric, and only the engine parts are SAE. I guess it is GM logic.

Very cool engine but for the price on the 350 is just insane! I wish!

In Canada that engine is probably around $3500 (hmmm, business opportunity??).

I recently bought a 1968 Chevy pick-up that will get an engine/tranny swap sometime soon.

After being used to Porsche parts prices, I'm shocked at how inexpensively I'm acquiring parts for this project.

I toyed with the idea of using something like this in my Elky. But then I need a really built transmission, and my little 8 inch rear end would be a grenade so it has to be replaced. A new rear means time for rear disks and bigger front brakes and I would need bigger tires and wheels, and I would need to box the frame and then I came to my senses and said STOP. 2 grand total for an engine swap and be done sounded better.
