just how long is a bird's pecker?
i spent 4 days sitting in a turkey blind. had alot of time to ponder stuff. (yes, i googled it). spring time is here and the turkeys were all out rounding up the hens for some "boom chaka bow wow".. it got me thinking; how do the boy parts reach the girl parts? i've seen roosters jump up on a hen, pin her down, and boom, that is it. done! isnt her tail feathers getting in the way?
sorry, not trying to be all sophomoric about this; i cant wrap my mind around the bird anatomy.. i dont get it. there, my random thread quota is filled...

You are kidding, right?
It also means you did not get a turkey, otherwise you could have just had a look when dressing it out. How are they doing right now? Are they responding to calling and coming in? I found the early season to be tough to hunt. I don't mind eating jakes, so I often go towards the end of the season, when they are desperate because the big toms have their harem together and don't give up any hens. I used to have access in a semi-residential rural spot. Turkeys galore. People were feeding them, judging from stomach contents. It didn't last - too much noise from the shotgun. I wasn't a bow hunter back then. I am invited back with the bow, but now I live too far. G |

If they're hung like a duck, they're swinging a pretty big organ......

Well Vash if you can't find a bird expert here try a vet or a bird doc(ornithologist).
Failing that there are dashcams and the same apparatus can be applied to turkeys as in turkey cams. It could be an inadvertent menage a trois! Good luck on your research! ![]()
