Apple IPhone battery question

I've had my basic Apple I Phone for several years now and it's performed fine. However as of the past week or so the battery life is going downhill. Basically it lasts a little over a day with no use. I use the phone as a ............phone !!! Will do a little web surfing and check my email and that's about it. Not interested in a debate on Apple is good vs. evil. Is replacing the battery easy or worth it ?

I'd wait a few days.

Battery life can be severely affected by signal/network.

Last week both mine and my wifes phones displayed very uncharacteristic severe battery drainage for a 2 day period then poof, back to normal.

Makes me wonder if the issue was with ATT.

Find a local guy who repairs iPhones, costs about $50 to replace a battery.

Or spend $50 on a new iPhone (if you have an upgrade available)

This assumes you have an older model. You will notice the difference.

If you just did an OS update, make sure your wireless, bluetooth, etc. is all turned off. All them radios use power.

Back the screen brightness down to 75%.

There was a thread about this a few weeks ago and some of the speculation blamed a recent software update for the increased battery drainage.

What iPhone do you have? iPhone 3S? iPhone 4? 4S? 5?
What is your OS version? Current version is 6.1.3, and with this version, I haven't heard any buzz about it being a battery drain.

Did you change any settings in the last few weeks? What may seem insignificant can have a big effect on your battery life - such as bluetooth, push notifications, alerts, GPS (GPS can be a big drain on the battery)

i get about 2 days of battery life in my iPhone 4. I listen to streaming music at least an hour a day, and do a small number of texts, read 10-20 emails, checking news apps, playing mindless games, taking phone calls...etc.

Some tricks I use to extend my battery life:

- Brightness at 50%, autobrightness OFF
- Bluetooth on only when I use it
- If you don't use any iCloud services, then turn all iCloud settings off. (Mail. contacts, calendars...etc). If you use iCloud, only turn on the services you use.
- Email - use fetch hourly instead of push notifications. (That way, the phone isn't looking for mail constantly)
- Notifications - check and turn off all notifications that you don't need -- for example, you don't need to be notified everytime angry birds has important information for you.
- When you are done with an app, double tap the home button and close down the app completely. IF you just 'minimize' an app like Google Maps, the GPS is still polling and subsequently draining your battery.
- When done using, I immediately hit the top button to turn off the screen.

-Z-man.
