Suggest you give monocular contacts a try if you only need reading glasses. They are great if you spend a lot of time at a computer. I used them for nearly 10 years as they almost eliminate the need for reading glasses. Once I needed bifocals however: glasses.

I used a standard printed test. I need 1.5-1.75 readers. I expect the next thing will be to get magnifying glasses for close up work.

this thread hits home. hard.
sore joints? yup..tired? yup. unexplained twinges of pain..got them! what bums me out the most is the changes in my eyesight. i had glasses prescribed to me, "just in case"..i find i need them more and more. my iphone is set on the brightest setting. my wristwatch is friggen huge! i think i just need to embrace my reading glasses. i get two pairs free at work(annually). i will just cover my home in them. magnifying glasses? hahaha..i inherited my stepdads'. they are a godsend on engineering plan sheets. some text, anyone would need them.
