The N.K.s really know how to march. I thought the Germans were good marchers, but I could watch the N.K.s march all day. They must practice a lot......Looks fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwoSFQb5HVk

Sadly I feel that a lot of innocent people (their civilian population) are going to be wiped out when someone decides enough is enough and turns the whole place into a giant glass parking lot.

Their punk leader needs a good **** kicking. Like the bully in your 6th grade class, once he got his ass kicked he seemed to settle down.....

If I can Join Capt. Obvious, in saying that this a continuation of a pattern of high stakes saber rattling that has up to this point has worked out well for N Korea. That has been responded to with open handed deplomacy. Bring them much needed aid and support.
So this has been a successful strategy that they are trying again. My question is how differently should we and the UN respond. To break the pattern, with out jumping to a military confrontation/war. I'm very interested in hearing the thoughts here on alternatives. Cheers Richard Last edited by tevake; 04-11-2013 at 07:21 PM.. |

War is diplomacy continued by other means....
I think the little testosterone laden turd will over-push the limits and/or we will have an accident on one side or the other (trigger happy guard, some other random and slightly stupid event) and the shooting will start. Even if the NK nukes don't work, they will make a mess of Seoul and cause enough damage to make retaliation a requirement. I think the Chinese will not tolerate the US trying to do a policing role and that has even greater risks. The combination of weak American leadership and over-confident Chinese leadership has me worried. Dennis |

Not worried. NK will shoot off some missiles at the Pacific Ocean, and the US and the UN will increase sanctions. Kim will look like a big shot in the eyes of the NK people on the anniversary of his granddaddy's birthday. The US and SK will continue their joint military exercises until their planned completion date. Everything will go on as before.

I said to my friend Tom Rangi "I'm pleased to see you haven't been called up for Korea." Tom is about 80 and was there in the 50's. He liked that joke, and is watching the politics with interest.

This Dork.... . has to prove he's worthy of his daddy's emplacement.
He is Stupid, and knows it. This is what bothers me about Kimmy. A mistake by this Dork can bring on a different style of living.

I suppose the only thing stopping us or china from glassing the royal compound would be the helpless, brainwashed slaves/subjects that all live there as well.

If China doesn't yank Kim Jong's leash then the fact that there is probably a couple of attack subs cruising the Sea of Japan right now with enough fire power on board (that works) to make every town and village in North Korea into glass should be enough of a deterrent.
