Hildago. Well not a "Western" but I really loved that movie. Based on a true story.
I also like Viggo Mortensen in Apaloosa, which was already mentioned. I especially liked the last chapter in that movie. |

Almost forgot the western with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ann-Margret, The Villian. He had a gun called something like a seven shot six shooter.
Enjoyed it mainly for Margret. She had a lot of double entendres. ![]()

How about
"Bad Day at Black Rock" with Spencer Tracey or "Ace in The Hole" with Kirk Douglas?

"The Cowboys"
I hate that we lose "The Duke" in this and the other western, but they are both very very special films regardless....

Nobody likes The Wild Bunch? How about Lonely are the Brave with Kirk Douglas
Ride the High Country is awfully good Herr Oberst, those are not really westerns, IMHO

"Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" - remarkable movie and one I never tire of watching - especially because of Newman and Katherine Ross.
