the searchers stands as one of the greatest movies ever made. period.

fort apache
stagecoach
yellow sky
high noon
destry rides again
will penny
the shootist
blazing saddles

some that are sort of westerns,
flesh and bone
near dark / cowboy vampires
tender mercies
raising arizona
The Good, the Bad, and the Weird / chinese kung fu imitation of sergio leone imitating john ford
the quick and the dead

some of the worst,
butch cassidy and the sundance kid is effectively unwatchable because of it's disco soundtrack.
i'm normally a fan of violence, but peckinpah is waaaaay over rated
wild wild west
and you notice how no one ever names dances with wolves?

I'm not sure why but I loved "Roster Cogburn"... I always watch it when it's on late at night. John Wayne at his best.

A lot of negative things were said about Mr Wayne just after he died.
All BS of course. The guy was humble, generous and caring. A true Hollywood legend.

No one has said Hannie Caulder yet? Come on. Raquel Welch wearing nothing but a poncho and a holster for a good part of the movie. I think there were other actors in it and i'm pretty sure it's a western, but I didn't see too much else outside of Raquel...

Best non-Eastwood western ever.
