Cheap Security Camera?

Some friends (really) are having a problem with a neighbor who is coming onto my friends' property, pulling up their plants, peering in their windows, standing on the sidewalk yelling at their house, etc. Talking or threatening is worthless (they've tried) as the neighbor has some sort of mental illness. So my friend is now looking to install cameras w/ recording, to get evidence of this. Basically they need two or three cameras that can be placed in their windows, connected (ideally wireless), record to a hard drive using programmed times or motion detection, allow speeded-up playback. Distance from camera to person is about 30-40 feet. Any suggestions? My friends can't spend much, $500 or so.

Check Costco as well. They have an inexpensive set. You don't have to be a member to shop online.

Look up Polaroid cameras. I bought two sets of these from Crutchfield: Polaroid IP-302 (Black) Wireless indoor pan-and-tilt surveillance camera with intercom (2-pack) at Crutchfield.com That's less than $400 for 4 cameras that I can pan/tilt from my iPhone. Read the specs. They do more than he will need.

Cool - how does the recording work, though? I could donate them an old PC.

I think they should go to the police and report the death threats they have received from these people. The police always respond seriously to death threats.

I've got a buddy that is having people mess with the equipment in his work lot. So he needs some weather proof gear, best would be wireless. Any leads on affordable gear that would last a while? Thanks, Richard thanks GWN7 we crossed

The problem with wireless is they still need power. So no matter what you have to run cable to them to supply the power.

I just picked up some wireless outdoor cams from X10.com Join there mailing list and you get better pricing. They seem to be working well so far, much better night vision than I was expecting
