I can't believe no one's mentioned blinker fluid and muffler bearings yet. -J

I got out as soon as my commitment was over because of stupid BS like this. I was serious about being a professional engineer and I was with a bunch of yahoos who thought we were in summer camp. I wonder what our military could do if they took their jobs seriously.
I'm an engineer, the best project that I've been on was a military program with a bunch of yahoo fighter pilots. We had a great time and accomplished some amazing things. Summer camp isn't so bad....

I work in printing, (have been for ages) so it's been a long time since someone sent me on a run for 'half-tone dots'.

When I was a kid a guy at my dad's office bought a new car, all the men go out in the parking lot at lunch to see it, Hey, start her up!

The guy knows nothing about cars, one coworker takes advantage of that fact and convinces him that it sounds like he needs to get his gear ratios checked ASAP.

They adjourn to the office and squelch their laughter as the guy's on the phone with the dealer service writer.

Then there's always, Have you put winter air in your tires yet?

Exhaust sample from an M1 tank... Amazing how fast a trash bag melts when exposed to 800 degrees. Ask the commo NCO for a PRC E7, or a BA1100N battery.

Anyway, I would have loved to be there when the 2LT showed up with the ice.

A friend of ours was the engineer at the local TV station and had the secretary fax a dozen envelopes to another friend of ours since he was out and needed them quick.

Mess duty in boot camp, I walked around for almost 12 hours one day looking for a light bulb repair kit.
My whole company had a pretty good laugh watching me walk around all day while they were scrubbing dishes.

Long weights, striped paint, skyhooks, left handed screwdrivers... You used to send the apprentice all across town looking for these things..

Now, they're lucky to get a tour of the dealership out of it...

Never got fooled by those either, but I did see many a seamen recruit stand mail bouy watch from 12am-4am... They would be standing right next to you wearing their sound powered headphones, rain poncho and general quarters helmet. Holding a long shafted gig hook to grab the mail he he.... I did fall for the "go down to the main space and ask for a BT punch" one... Around the time that they told me to go to the main space and ask for a diamond back (Dog pile you on the expanded metal floor) I had caught onto their antics and just smiled....

Ours was the Satellite Watch. I actually located one, HA!

We also came up with the Nitrogen Filled Garble Filter. Typically one uses that to fix free running teletypes.
