Well said Jim. Just ask yourself Mike if it is okay for the neighbor to put his garbage with yours. How does that feel?

billybek 06-29-2013 06:06 AM

Simple solution.

Buy the same brand of garbage bags as the neighbor.

nynor 06-29-2013 06:13 AM

some people are pretty sensitive, i suppose. if all the neighbors on the entire street wanted to line there trash cans in front of my house to make it easier on the sanitation engineers, i say go for it.

my neighbor is frequently out of town. i take his trash out for him all the time, without being asked, and put the cans away. once, i was out of town, too, and the rest of the neighbors let his cans sit out on the street. after four days, he got a fine. he appreciated my efforts even more, after that.

anyway, carry on.

Chocaholic 06-29-2013 06:22 AM

As someone suggested, perhaps there's a surcharge for extra bags. He could have easily assumed you were trying to stick him with your garbage bill.

Things aren't always what they seem. Safe to assume you weren't snubbed or treated badly when you handed over the Christmas bottle?

madmmac 06-29-2013 06:30 AM

Rip open one of his bags like a dog got into it and strew a bunch of nudie, cross dressing, gay or any other genre magazine you can think of on the ground around his garbage.

Zeke 06-29-2013 06:47 AM

Your neighbor would love me. I regularly put trash in other cans when they are on the street. Some people ignore it and some get incensed. I point out to what it says on the can, "Property of the City of Long Beach." While it's sitting on city property, it's as much mine as theirs.

Well, the logic is weak, I know. But, if they get all up tight, I tell them to call the police, I'll wait.

Never happened yet. Or the police didn't come. And if they did, what would I be charged with?

VINMAN 06-29-2013 06:51 AM

I'll happily trade you...

i have a neighbor like you. just because it is legal, doesn't make it right. YMMV.

dipso 06-29-2013 06:54 AM

Why don't you just get cleaner garbage?

lendaddy 06-29-2013 07:12 AM

You guys don't have garbage cans? You just set bags out by the street?

Anyway, I wouldn't be at all pleased if my neighbor tossed his bags in front of my house making us look like hillbillies. I also can't imagine having the stones to do it.

That being said, I wouldn't toss them back in you yard the first couple times.. :)

So we got into the red VW microbus with the shovels, and rakes, and implements of destruction, and headed on toward the police officer's station.

Now friends, there was only one of two things that Obie could have done at the police station, and the first was he could have give us a medal for being so brave and honest on the telephone, which wasn't very likely, and we didn't expect it, and the other thing was that he could have balled us out and told us never to be seen driving garbage around the vicinity again, which is what we expected.

But when we got to the police officer's station, there was a third possibility that we hadn't even counted upon, and we was both immediately arrested. Handcuffed.

And I said "Obie, I don't think I can pick up the garbage with these handcuffs on".

He said "Shut up kid. Get in the back of the patrol car." And that's what we did, sat in the back of the patrol car and drove to the quote, scene of the crime, unquote.

Ha! Ha! I spend the summer of 1970 in Stockbridge, and a few nights at the tavern drinking with Obie. Alice had moved to a new building at the edge of town by then. Most people in the tavern called him Bill and for the longest time I thought his name was Bill Obrien.

What do you suppose is the common denominator ?

Is this the third or fourth thread where he has some catastrophic interaction with a neighbor, and in each case, he's completely innocent while the neighbor seems to be destined for the psych ward?

Dude must live in the worst block ever in the history of humanity!

Milt, I've recycling dog poo.

What I mean by this is when the dog has a poo on his morning walk I pick it up in a plastic bag and tie a knot etc. Sometimes I put it in someones (anyone's) rubbish bag, but usually I put it in someones plastics recycling bin. I like the idea of it going to China and being recycled. Maybe even coming back as a Coke bottle.

jyl 06-29-2013 02:53 PM

I get pissed when people do that in my containers. A bag of dog ****, in a recycling container, after a week of hot sun, stinks to high heaven.

[QUOTE=mikeesik;7521848]Hello.
My next door neighbors are usually gone for the long weekend. Today was Garbage day. Last night I put my three bags with the red tie knot next to theirs.
I just thought that the Garbage Man had one less stop.

It sounds like you were trying to make things more efficient for the garbage man but at your neighbors expense. If that was your true intent you could have put your neighbors trash along with yours in front of your house. Some people come across strong to nip things in the bud. Rude? maybe, but you probably wont do it again.

ckelly78z 06-29-2013 07:43 PM

Boy, I sure don't miss having neighbors or trash service for 19 years now, I burn all my trash out back that I can't recycle......at least it doesn't end up in a dump for the next 100 years seeping of toxins, or floating in the Pacific ocean like some other thread here recently indicated

LOL.

I wouldn't be so mean. Sorry I can't type I'm laughing so much. I only put them in someones skip/wheelie bin when it's going to be collected later that morning.

This.

What's that saying about one man's trash?!?

Mike - technically, you were wrong in putting your garbage next to his on his property.

In my town, we actually have some strict laws regarding what can and cannot be thrown out. I can't throw out debris like concrete or brick. Vegatation must be in separate containers to be recycled, as well as glass, aluminum, plastic and paper. Bulk day is the first collection of the month, while white goods (appliances, AC's...etc) must be scheduled with the town for pickup.

Believe it or not, our town does randomly check our garbage, and I suspect fines are given out if someone is not compliant. So -- if I were to put my garbage besides my neighbor's trash and it violated our town's code, guess who would be fined? Not me, but my neighbor. Or --- if they found cut up bodies in the trash that I placed on my neighbors pile -- well, you get the picture.

Mike - don't assume you are helping the world by your actions. Put your trash infront of your residence, or in the spot where you are supposed to put it. The world is fine -- you don't need to make the extra effor to save it, and the garbage collectors are just fine picking up garbage as they always have been...

mattdavis11 06-30-2013 07:43 AM

The neighbors we have don't give a damn, they'll throw anything in the yard. Cans, bottles, wrappers, and flyers have become daily clean up. I hate living next the the mail boxes. The city even put a dedicated trash bin in our side yard for disposal of junk mail, it doesn't matter, it winds up in the yard. Lazy people.

However, I chose to live here and had a good idea of the surroundings beforehand. Kind of hard to ***** about it.

The neighborhood I previously lived was awesome, everyone got along, lent helping hands whenever needed, it was tight knit community. My father owns the house, has been leasing it since 2007 and is now selling. My brother and I have been doing the upkeep since it was last vacated. Every time we go by it's something new that needs to be tended to. Yesterday it was a plumbing issue, realtors or potential buyers excessively yanking on the pipes. The longtime neighbors have said that they would love for us to move back in, which is pretty surprising considering we were then the rowdy college kids on the block. Apparently, some of the homes that have sold have been filled with shyteheads. The neighbor next door is one. Knowing the house is vacant, they'll throw broken tree branches over the fence, let their dog shyte in our yard (they have a zero scape, neighborhood YARD OF THE MONTH!), etc...

I really wanted to throw the dog poo on our lawn into their pool yesterday, but didn't.
