My Trip to Michagan and meeting two Pelicans

Last week I drove my 1985 911 Carrera 3,200 miles round trip to Traverse City, MI for the Porsche Parade. It was a great trip and my 911 ran like a....................
A Porsche 911.
I was going to say Swiss watch but I have a Rolex at the watch repair shop right now.

The real point of this post is to show a picture of my two new friends I got to share a few beers with.

That is me on the left, Crowbob in the middle and 968rz on the right. We are in front of the 911 50th Anniversary car. I do have a picture of Crowbob without his hat but I will post that only if there is some interest.

It was fun to share a few beers with some new Pelican friends.

Is Crowbob in the witness protection program?

I've met Pelicans all over the country, all are good people and fun to drink beer with. It's fun to talk cars with people that don't glaze over when you start talking about torsion bars and oversteer.

Who do people always look different in real life than they sound in the interwebs?

Yup... Pelicans tend to be pretty great folks... I've met them all over the place and they've all been good. Heck, 2 pelicans have helped me move even!

Of course the prize for generosity goes to the pelican I am currently living with! Crazy guy found out I was going to be staying in his town for almost two months and insisted I stay with him!

And after a few weeks he is still letting you stick around?

Yea, time is always short in a week long string of fun.

Now I gotta start planning for next year's trip to Monterey.

TC is a great city. Do they have a Porsche parade every year? If they have one next year I'd love to drive up from FL for the event. Any reason to spend time in TC during the summer is a good one

There is a Porsche Parade every year. This was the 58th as I recall. It is in a different place year to year. Next year is Monterrey California. It was in Salt Lake City in 2012 and Savannah Ga in 2011.

There were over 850 participants this year. That is a lot of Porsches in one place.

Send it out west. They would love some rain.
