Who knew Ducatis won't last 5 seconds at top speed?

I've blown another engine up. I am getting good at this! All in good fun, but kinda expensive.

Since I know next to nothing about motorcycles, this may be a stupid question; if you have an idea what the RPM's were at the time of failure, how about installing a rev limiter and set it for 500 RPM below that?

Any sort of failure at full speed is very dangerous - especially Montana? speeds.

Ouch. Glad that dripping oil didn't cause a worse problem at top speed...

According to Duc engineers the engines dont have a redline because of the engine design.

Apparently they were drinking the day they decided that. LOL

I almost bought a hyper-retard...glad I didnt.

Warranty probably doesnt cover that huh...

that truly sucks. My Monster has a rev limiter. Did you reflash the ECU?

I'm sure it has a rev-limiter, but I wasn't into it in 6th gear. That would be pretty tough to do. Can't really disclose speed

So I now have a large hole in the case behind the starter motor. Looks like a rod broke. No warning at all... no tightening, no red lights on the computer, nothing, just Bang! Was riding with a buddy so I only had a 2 hour sit-down in the middle of nowhere Wyoming while he got the truck and trailer.

Its out of warranty, so I'll be shopping for a new motor. Not worth the labor costs to rebuild this one.

I would think that oil on the rear tires at speed would pucker every bodily orifice in like .002 seconds

Hysteresis can strike anytime. Don't blame Ducati.

Oh, that word. Hysteresis = metal fatigue.

Fatigue is more of a science than that. And hysteresis is not a synonym for metal fatigue if that is what you are saying. Plastic deformation is a sort of hysteresis.
