i get so melancholy when i have to apply for a new passport.

i love travel. i dont do it enough. i am leafing thru my expired passport looking at all the stamps and stickers from for away countries.

what is with the bumming feeling of getting a new, empty passport? i have yet to fill up a passport. now that i am older, and hopefully more financially secure (yea right!), i will finally travel more.

and when did they raise the renewal fee to that much money? ouch!

you guys getting good mileage from your passports? what happens when you run out of pages?

man, i love traveling!!

When/if you run out of pages, you can get additions.

Is it expensive to renew there? It's only about $100 here for ours.
Haven't managed to fill one up yet, but then to leave Aus to go anywhere is a major financial effort.

I was bummed when the diplomatic pages were removed from my passport when I left the sandbox 29 years ago....

Those additional pages that were staple in by here in the US usually slowed me down in customs... go figure

Fwiw my most recent passport just needs a few stamps to be full.. to bad with scanners.... stamps are becoming rare...

A Saudi visa takes one whole page, and the tax stamps take another half page. Add the entry and exit stamp, and you just filled two pages with one trip.

In certain countries, they will give you a separate document so that their stamp does not have to go into your passport. You know, to avoid any complications.

When I went to Australia (google Lizard Island Resort ) a few months ago I got to try out my new passport with a chip or something in it. Wow, really speeds up going through customs not needing to talk to anyone.

One of my old passports has got one of those "most evil of evil" stamps, South Africa in the bad old days. In fact I was there when Nelson got outa jail.

A US visa is similar. Or it was at one stage. I got a stamp the size of the page, and the exit/entry stamps randomly elsewhere in the passport. Last time I travelled though, it was a half page stamp.

Going to the embassy and getting new pages added to my passport because I had filled up the stock pages was a moment of pride for me.... I will miss this passport when it is gone. 4 more years!

I keep hoping that whenever we go to Cuba they will stamp our Passport so US Custom's heads can explode when they see the stamp. Instead they stamp a separate piece of paper...
