Yep - Moses called it back in 2013.

Didn't the Eagles sign him as a QB?

Yeah - but Moses got the team right! Plus he said he could back Vick up. Now, is Mark Sanchez still with the Eagles? If that's the case, and Tebow is backup QB, I sure hope the same thing doesn't happen to him as when he was backup QA to Sanchez with the Jets.

I say, let the boy play!

:D

Tebow is the 4th QB the Eagles are bringing to camp this year. He is just rounding out the practice squads.

But, Tebow brings flexibility to the team. He can stink at a number of positions.

onewhippedpuppy 04-21-2015 11:18 AM

I saw on ESPN that the Eagles now have three of the top five worst QBR rated QBs of the last five years. Nice.

I could see Tim as a good weapon on novelty plays. As a true starting QB, no way.

McLovin 04-21-2015 11:28 AM

The Eagles are certainly the most interesting team to watch.

What Chip Kelly is doing is very strange and hard to comprehend.

I guess he'll either come out as a genius or a fool. Will be interesting to see which one.

But they trade away their best player and one of the handful of true impact players in the NFL (McCoy), trade away other really good and promising players -

then acquire what is certainly the most bizarre QB roster ever put together. 5 QBs, none of them any good (either never was good, or washed out) (Tebow, Sanchez, Kinne, Bradford, Barkley).

I thought maybe these moves were to try to move up in the draft to get a QB, like Mariotta. Maybe it is, but I don't really see how that would work, since none of the current 5 are worth anything in a trade.

The other thought is he is putting a very unique (for the NFL) system in place that does not require a QB with a strong accurate arm (which none of the 5 have). Like you can get away with very well in college, but conventional wisdom says cannot work in the NFL.

That, I think is the most interesting scenario. And, to make it even more interesting, if that is the case, Tebow is probably the best option for that kind of system. He's the strongest and smartest of the bunch, and the only one with a true run option.

.

They'd have 5 of the 5, it's just that the other 2 don't have enough playing time to qualify yet (and probably never will since they'll never be full time NFL starters).

Looking forward to see how this plays out. Maybe they are putting together a package trade? All their qb's for a parking spot and a six pack?

The Tebow love is too funny.

This. He is really most ideal for wildcat formation. Let him run 60% of the time, and pass 40% to keep the defense guessing...

Tim is finally with a team that has a decent head coach.

I'm excited to see how this plays out.

Go Tim!!!

Tebow has spent the past two or three years working hard, learning to throw the way the pros want him to throw, and he's has learned how to do it with accuracy.
8 hours a days 6 days a week, training, throwing, training, throwing.
What have you doubters been doing for the past three years? Uh huh.

Tebow is one of the strongest, toughest, most competitive men in the sport of football at any level. he is bigger and stronger than he was before.
And he is a winner. he knows how to win, he knows how to make others around him step up and win.
He knows how to motivate and inspire.
He had a dream and never gave up no matter who told him he couldn't achieve it.
He is a greatest role model ever.

so lets look at the eagles quarterbacks:

Sam Bradford. I'm a fan but he's fragile, gets hurt too easy lately, his knees are gone.

Mark Sanchez: USC. Gets frazzled when rushed, throws interceptions when blitzed. Doesn't win big games.

Matt barkley, USC. His completion percentage is nearly 100% if you include passes to the opposing team, 20% if you don't. Unproven, 2nd string on practice team.
Not really a factor yet. His day will come eventually.

So letsd say Bradford gets hurt in pre-season, sanchez goes 2 and 4 and pisses off the fans who are calling for Kelley's head, the fans are yelling TEE-BOW! TE-BOW! TE-BOW!
Kelly panics and puts him in.

The fans go wild, his teammates get pumped up as they see Tebow manhandle the other teams's linebackers, average eagles players start making hall of fame plays.
and the eagles win the game in the last minute.

And suddenly it is 2011 all over again and we are blessed with the opportunity to watch the greratest football ever played, again. Just like when Tebow took the broncos from a 1-4 loooser team to winning the AFC west and beating the steelers in the playoffs, in overtime. that was awesome.

It's gonna be a good year Tater. I hope.

Maybe he thought he was playing fantasy football? Got his two lists confused...

Except, he hasn't been training 8 hours a day, 6 days a week.

What about his endorsements for Nike? Jockey? TiVo? FRS Energy? What about the Tim Tebow Foundation? What about his job on the SEC Network? Co-hosting GMA?

Much like his skills at QB, seems like your numbers are all hype and little substance:rolleyes:

More like 2.5-3 hours, 3 times a week for a little over 18 months. Wonder why anyone would want to sign a QB that had to completely re-learn how to throw at age 26??!?!

jyl 04-21-2015 02:04 PM

Some chatter that Eagles picked him up in case 2 point play is approved?

Lapkritis 04-21-2015 02:09 PM

I have a lot of respect for Chip Kelly... if anyone has earned a shot and can put butts in the seats, it's Tebow. There's minimal risk and isn't the first time Chip has pulled from the elder bin during the off season. I'm hesitant to say Tebow will even make it through camp or play but why not give him a chance?

jyl 04-21-2015 03:53 PM

You guys think Kelly will trade up for Mariota?

He'll try. Biggest hurdle is a growing sentiment in Tampa that Winston could be a problem.

I'm sure he would love to do that. He coached him as a freshman, they are aware of each other's styles, Mariota is a great QB, and that's obviously a position the Eagles are lacking at.

I don't know how possible that is, though.

greglepore 04-21-2015 04:28 PM

Yes, the two points from the one is the Philly chatter. We've become a home for unloved but incredibly talented college qb's. Bradford, Sanchez, Tebow.... They're not releasing Bradford jerseys yet here, so rumor is he's only here to trade up, along with maybe Matthews. I just don't see how they get to Mariotta, if in fact Chip wants him.

Chip is definitely "big balls Kelly". He's all in, and is either going to do something unheard of or fall on his face. He's ridiculously smart( he's brought in world class PhD sociologists to consult, as an example), but I'm not sure that that is a positive attribute in an NFL coach.
