The Amazing Woman I married
Last night was one of those occasions when the going got tough.
Her Dad(91), had been getting medical treatment for mild pneumonia after some radiation treatments last week. She had just brought her Mom & Dad home and he developed shortness of breath getting up the ramp into the house, asked for his 'puffer' and collapsed. My wife hit the "Panic Button" which got help on the way and started CPR. It was ten long minutes before he regained consciousness and the ambulance arrived. The paramedics asked her if she was a nurse. Said she had done a good job. Her Dad seems lucid and will be in hospital for at least a few days. Looks like I am going to be busy on a new wheelchair ramp. She retired from 33 years of teaching last year, has authored 3 novels and a large number of articles, raised 2 kids and fosters rescue dogs & cats. And last night she saved her Dad's life. Today is her parents 62 anniversary. Amazing woman. I am a lucky guy. Best Les

Print what you wrote and give it to her. Yes, you are a lucky man. Good luck.

Yup - that's awesome! If she didn't start CPR, he might have regained consciousness but would have had brain damage after the first 5 minutes.

Even harder to remain calm and collected when it is a family member in distress. Good on her!
Hope she never has to do that again.

You are a lucky guy. Also, think of how many men that wouldn't even occur to. Continued happiness to both of you.

She must be on top of the world. Marriage being a partnership, I imagine she was at her best when it counted because you both are. Well done.

Thanks all, for the kind words.
I arrived just after the paramedics and as soon as they took over, she was shaking like a leaf. I spent the next ten minutes holding her while she got her breathing under control again. Ironically while she was working to save him, she said she was wondering if she was doing the right thing, worrying whether there would be brain damage and knowing how much her Dad would hate being a burden to others. Relief (and the shakes) came when she heard him respond clearly to the paramedic's questions. I showed her these messages this morning. Thanks again for the support. Les
