Another dumb question

In regards to this Castro guy who hanged himself in prison. My question is: How does a person do this, like is there hooks in the ceiling to tie the bed sheets to?

Are there step ladders available to reach up there? Baffling to me!

But all in all, good riddance to this dude.

Bunk bed frames, loop it thru a vent grate, even door handles will work.

there was a askreddit post on this topic. it was answered by prison guard that a prisoner once stole extra bedsheets from the laundry and ripped them up to make a rope. then all you needed to do to kill yourself was tie it to something, like cell door or bedframe and make a slip knot. u'd choke yerself.

As above. You don't need to be fully suspended, feet off the ground. Noose has to be just high enough that partial body weight pulls it tight.

A lot of jails have sprinkler heads in the cells. they sometimes hang themselves from them. I know the female inmates have used their bras to try and do it sometimes. Most jails have installed a new type that you cant put anything around, because they also tend to break off. Its always fun going to a fire call with a sprinkler activation in one of those. The guards tend to leave them in there for a while to get a nice shower.

I once watched a report on what them guys in prison invent to make weapons or just to keep themselves busy.
It was amazing nothing but time on their hands so to speak.
Some can be very creative.

Sprinkler heads inside a cell sounds like a bad idea. I could see them outside the cell pointing inwards.

Maybe prisons have a special cell where the Dahmers and the Castros and the Mcveighs of the world go. A cell with plenty of strong hooks on the ceiling, stepladders, rope and bedsheets, and a calendar on the wall with the date and year of the inmate's release marked in red. A cell that the public doesn't know about but wouldn't be too unhappy if they were to find out that such an area existed in a taxpayer provided prison.

Or not.

McVeigh did not get a chance to kill himself. That worthless low life baby killing scum ball was executed by the federal government.

Good point, and I knew that, but I was just using that scum-sucking crawdad-headed-lowlife as an illustration of who might be invited into those special cells, should they exist. (Dahmer didn't have the chance to take himself out, either, but his demise didn't cause too many to wonder at the inhumanity prevalent in a max security prison!)

You should not insult Crawdads like that, they don't deserve the insult.

Hugh, I'm talking about the closed cells with solid doors. not your traditional steel bar ones. Most heads now are recessed into the wall, with an anti-tamper shield on them. But they still find ways to mess with them. Unfortunately they are needed because the idiots are always lighting their mattresses and stuff on fire.

I don't get the "needed" part.

Yes. My old guitar teacher who became a good friend was literally insane. He stabbed his father to death over some paranoid hallucination and got sent to a prison for the criminally insane. During an interview the psychologist laid a pencil on the table. Wally grabbed it, stuck in his nose, and slammed his head against the table, pencil first.

I agree. Tools to facilitate their demise should be standard in each cell. Why not?

Why are these bastards allowed to be in a cell in the first place?
