Best Product for Flushing cooling system

My restored 1953 F 100 Pick up has been sitting for 3 years.
Lots of crap in the system

I just do an oil change on the 911. No flush necessary.

There is some stuff the miata guys like, flush until clear with distilled water, put the stuff in, drive around, then flush and fill with your 50:50 mix or whatever. One guy suggested taking the top radiator hose off, running water into the top of the rad and just flushing it out. If you are really concerned about junk in there, maybe take the water pump off and flush it out through there.

Radiator shop will have rig to flush it out very efficiently.

is the coolant thats in the truck all rusty now?
What does it look like ?

If its not rusty, I would drain it then rinse in a few gallons of distilled water,
then fill will a 50/50 mix of your favorite Prestone coolant and Distilled water

If it is rusty there could be issues with whatever cleaner you choose as removing the crud may cause leaks that the crud was plugging
Might be a good idea to swap in a new thermostat and coolant cap

Not rusty, just a lot of chunks of Calcium, radiator clogged and I removed both thermostats and replaced

And an interesting note. I read a column in the current "Octane" magazine by Jay Leno. Apparently, he's had issues with coolant over the years, and has gone to a waterless coolant because it eliminates the corrosion that you get with coolant and has an increased boiling point. I guess he'd had problems with his vehicles due to water rusting and corroding things.

Based on a quick google search, he's using Evans Waterless Coolant.

Make sure you turn the heater on when you are flushing it.

I have no idea, but an endorsement from Jay Leno is a good thing to me. The rust and crap that you run into when using water has always irritated me. I like the idea of a lifetime coolant that has a lower freezing point and a higher boiling point.

Higher boiling point is not the only issue for a good coolant. You also have to worry about heat conductivity. A high boiling point isnt going to do anything for you if the coolant is not moving the heat around properly.
