You have to swipe the bigger app preview section, not the lower app icon. Not that I tried the latter...over...and over...

So... I guess that wasn't part of the TED talk?
|
I could do another talk on intuitive UI/UX if you really want :D

Everybody has different ways of interacting with their data, but I'm often trying to find open days for appointments. Having a month up with a list underneath is perfect. The new interface I have to go back and forth and repeatedly scroll to get the same amount of information. For me, fail. ymmv. |

Upgraded my iPad - so far so good, although I'm not impressed with the flat look vs. the 3D renderings of the icons, and I'm not into the pastel colors (1985 called - they want their pink oxfords and izod polos back!)
Like the control center - that has been missing from iOS for a long time! Now all that is missing is the ability to customize the control panel with apps, controls...etc. Need to poke around it more to get a better feel for it. -Z-man. |

Wait. How about Microsoft Windows 8! Ok, not a good example. How about this. You are getting the flat, pastel colors with the Retina display. Very HD black and white. |
Fing crappy Internet connection!!!! Was 5mb away from having my iTunes update downloaded when my connection went to pot!!!
I miss my 30mbps connection in Houston. :( |
I think battery mgmt is going to be more of an issue.

Ok - here are my first impressions:
Cons: - New color scheme and flat look is awful. Looks like it was designed by a sixth grader whose parents are still living in the 80's. I suspect that iOS 7.1.1 will remedy this with a 'classic theme' option. - New picture organization makes little sense. - Better location services and the ability of the phone to keep track of your favorite locations means lower battery life (unless you micro-manage the settings like I do. :D ) Pros: - Control-center. 'Bout time. - Finally, you can put more than 8 apps into a folder with the 'scrolling within the folder feature' - The new way to close apps running in the background is good - no need to hover over an app and wait for the little red x's. - Safari is a bit better. -Z-man. |
I did the upgrade this morning.
Still poking around. I am not a fan of the new calendar layout. |
Upgrade was trouble free for me. I have a iPhone 4S, so am not getting all the iOS 7 bells and whistles. I generally like the new graphics and typefaces, but then again I think Helevtica is the most perfect font ever and I sometimes invert colors for fun. There is something a bit jarring when opening 3rd party apps, most of which still have a very different look, until they get updated too. Oddly, Find My iPhone has not been updated despite being an Apple app. Control Center is good. Background Updating is good. The ability to finely control which apps get to background update, use Location Services, access your data/Privacy settings - all good. The Limit Ad Tracking setting is intriguing. The Calendar needs a week at a glance view.

I changed my home screen background to a simple and dark colored one, contrast with the new icons is much better. Cool gimmick - look at your screen and tilt the phone, the icons appear to move relative to the background.
|
Sometimes I have to swipe 7 -8 times to get the Control Center to slide up.
|
I'm liking it somewhat so far.
The flashlight button on the control center has greyed out twice for me, seems to be a know bug. I'm not liking the slow screen update when typing (4S), the cursor always seems to be a keystroke behind. iTunes Radio is pretty cool but seems really bass heavy. I turned on the EQ with the flat setting and it helped. I didn't notice it as much today as I did yesterday so maybe they changed something. I'm not nuts about the search in the address bar function in Safari, I was pecking all around it today trying to get it to clear out the current URL to start a fresh search. |
I'll be installing it tonight in my 4S. My wife did hers last night and loves it. My daughter did her 5 last night and loves it. Still have to do the iPad.

Look at the clock app icon, second hand moving, correct time, neat.
