Older guys and younger women???
Maybe this has been discussed before. I'm single, 50yo, divorced for a few years, had some great relationships along the way.
Recently started dating a lady a bit older, no pics will be posted. She's 57, attractive, in good shape, eager :-) and very surprised I was not out chasing 29 year olds all over the place. Recently saw that 83 year old Clint and his 48 year old wife were splitting. Duh. I've had opportunities to date much younger but honestly don't know what I'd have in common with someone who hasn't had kids, never saw MASH, texts as a primary form of communication, is closer to my 24 yo daughters age than mine...... What says the brain trust. Am I missing something here? Do guys date much younger just to stroke their ego? ![]()

I'm not sure.
I can't imagine what I would talk to an 18 year old girl about (I'm 43). But I'm not so quick to judge anything anymore. My wife is a vegetarian Hindu who has never drank alcohol. I'm from Michigan. I hunt deer, and enjoy whiskey. Yet we have had 16 successful years together.

I "see" women at least 10 yrs. younger...I'm not attracted to sagging and wrinkled skin.

I tend to agree if the age difference is extreme, you have no common references to what's happened in your lifetime at various ages. Plus, I believe that if you're with a much younger mate, you always feel old. Anyone who says differently is lying, IMO. If you're the same age, you never feel old with them.
I do think that slight age differences are OK, (maybe 10-15 years), and sometimes can make the slightly older person interesting to the other because they caught some stuff in recent history that the other person barely missed. Anyhow...there are more important factors for compatibility but age can get in the way.

Yes it is painful to look at a couple where the man is at least 20 years older than the woman...old enough to be her father.

A gal 10 to 15 years younger than you will ALWAYS be a "young chick". On the other hand there is NO substitution for excellent DNA. Some, (not many) women age very well into their 50's and beyond.
My opinion is once a well adjusted, intelligent gal reaches mid to late 30's she is ready for a real adult relationship. Find a gal who knows what she wants and is not desperate. Older gals (45+) often (but not always) have baggage and "fears". Either because they have been married before or they have never been married. You will not fix these things, you will only suffer from them. In the absence of any other advice I would say "sleep with the youngest woman you can stand to listen to, but make it a long audition". |

I've been married 3 times.
First wife was quite a bit older. Learned a lot about manipulating life's experiences. Second wife was my age and we did the family thing. Third wife was quite a bit younger and we fit perfectly when she wasn't doing a swan drive into crazy. Now a date women of all ages because I like woman. Young women do tend towards having fun and I like the mentor thing. Try buying a woman her first Daiquiri.....you'll understand the meaning of "new experiences". Recently my experience has been, older women, women my age seem to be bitter and angry, lacking any sense of trust because their life didn't turn out like they planned. They all have baggage, the trick is identifying the damaged ones before it's too late to walk away. Age ? do what fits and enjoy. |

It's the inescapable biology of attraction. The single most powerful predictor of sexual attraction for women is power. It can be physical strength, confidence or success. As men age they generally become more confident and successful. Maybe prehistoric females valued a mate who could keep her children fed and keep wolves out of the cave at night.
The most powerful prediction of sexual attraction for men is fertility. Youth, facial symmetry, and a sexually developed body. It ain't PC, but things haven't changed too much in 250,000 years.

Kinda difficult to generalize because there are so many variables. If you find the right person at the right stage of your lives, it'll work. When I was dating post-divorce, I was around 45 and dated women between 32 and 51. In general I can say the 30-somethings often were struggling with the kid thing if they didn't have any. There were a couple of trends that I saw:
if their ex was a "jerk", etc (as described by the woman), invariably the woman had equally serious issues. Takes two to tango if they had a reasonable relationship with their ex, often it was a better sign, though sometimes there were issues of them wanting it to get back together you can talk about most anything with a woman who is a lot younger for a couple of dates but beyond that, if there aren't some sort of commonalities beyond a desire for sex, game over. never underestimate the appetite of a 40-something or older woman (not talking food) there did seem to be a break point, somewhere around 45 or so for women. Seems like anything over would result in them only being hit on by 60-something men no matter how hot they were. There are some odd assumptions and cultural mores around age differences. |

How about the other way around? There has to be someone on this board with experience.
