New to us Cayenne, drivesaft issues included!! PLEASE CHECK THIS OUT

Hey All,

I've done quite a bit of research and have narrowed everything down to 2 solutions, I'd greatly appreciate your experiences or opinions on this.

PROBLEM: Driveshaft center support bearing has failed, torn rubber piece, common problem on the Cayenne, Audi Q7, and Toureg.

NOT IN QUESTION: Bringing it somewhere to have everything torn apart, driveshaft rebalanced, and getting porked for $1500+

SOLUTIONS:

1:SEE LINK BELOW AS IM LEANING THIS WAY: Cayenne Drive Shaft Clamping Bearing Support Mount: Drivetrain &amp Drive Shafts

2:Yank the current driveshaft out, pay the corecharge, and install a whole new driveshaft including the bearing support that will be a matter of time before it fails again.

Both solutions are less than $500 and within $100 of eachother...thoughts!?

You can use the clamping bearing. Takes 30 minutes to do if you have an angle grinder to cut through the old bearing housing.

Super easy and cheap. Use good jackstands.

Replace the flex disc at the same time.

Flex disc is on the transfer case or rear end side (only asking as I'm not currently under the car)

I'm sure the electric impact wrench will be invaluable on this job

The flex disc is in front of the center bearing, right out of the transfer case. Big rubber donut looking thing.

Use Pelican over Vertex all day long, my dealings with Vertex have been sketchy at best.

I am really glad Pelican has this stuff, aside from my bias, Vertex has less than consistent reviews.

I used the rebuilt shaft first time around. Bearing lasted about 10,000 miles before giving out again. Just replaced it with the clamping shaft. Very easy job took under an hour been about 3 months so far so good
