Mills House in Greenwood, Indiana. Same architect who did my house....

These were posted in the MID CENTURY MODERN Facebook group. I highly recommend it to those of you who love this architecture.
We bought an architecturally designed MCM that has had just one owner since 1956! For us, this was a dream as, aside from some funny 1970s wallpaper, the house was intact, right down to the 1956 Thermador wall oven and Nutone intercom system. We set about putting it back to its 1956 glory by pulling up the carpet in the bathrooms (ewwww!) and replacing the original carpet with new (the same) and stripping metre after metre of wallpaper, replacing all of the damaged Formica etc. etc. We were determined to honour the home and not "wreck-o-vate." So, after this exhausting and rewarding work, we had accomplished what we had set out to do, we had friend over who looked around and said, "Wow! This is an amazing place! It will be really nice when it is renovated!" http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1593156903.jpg The sleeping beauty the day we moved in. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1593155922.jpg Our first Mid Century snowfall. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1593156008.jpg Summertime. No more strange green driveway. It was moss! We live on Vancouver Island. It was strange; like a Martian landing strip! Alll clean now. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1593156133.jpg Dining room. The seventies light fixture, while very cool, was replaced by a more period correct piece. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1593156567.jpg Nutone: great for waking up the kids! It still works and reaches every room and outdoor living space. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1593156685.jpg 1956 Thermador! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1593157018.jpg Carport and front entrance http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1593157129.jpg Sputnik doorknob http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1593157267.jpg Living room http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1593157377.jpg Thermador Masterpiece Griddle 'n' Grill |

The explosion of the house was done by recreating a mock-up of the house on the back lot of Southwestern Studios, also located in Carefree, Arizona. The mock-up was exploded. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066601/trivia?ref_=tt_trv_trv |
We're thinking of building a small cabin behind my mom's house in east Texas since my wife has a hard time staying in my mom's house with cats. She found this cool Finish design but I have a feeling the cost per sqft for something barely over 500 sqft would be silly.
