That is a good use of a fireant nest.

I bet PETA will not approve but who cares about them.

I saw a video of this done with concrete slurry once to an ant colony in Africa, I cannot remember what type of ant it was but excavated the thing was huge, like 30 feet across and 30 40 feet deep of crazy interlaced tunels and large storage caverns. Very very cool stuff.

That is so inhumane!!!!

That is why I pour hot bacon grease down my fire ant nest... gives them little ant heart attacks... and when you are done... you have bacon flavored fire ants!

and all it would do in the long run is piss em off.... cool video however.

based on some of the above posts, I assume some of you have never dealt with fire ants. They are indestructible for all intent and purposes.

Jim, that is funny, I thought the exact same thing.

I had one fire ant get on my shoulder once, the pain was incredible, like a pair of red hot pliers digging into my shoulder as hard as was possible. Incredible pain from one freaking fire ant.

No, that was molten aluminum. My family owns a zinc and aluminum die casting plant. I used to move molten aluminum from large melting pots to pots in the die casting machines.

There was a documentary just lately on one of the cable channels. Maybe Animal Planet - not sure. Anyway - the college professor or whomever had collected dozens of those castings from around the country/world of different ant species. Some of them were 4,5 and 6 feet deep - of various widths. It was really fascinating.

I would like to do that - getting to that temp would be tough with conventional stuff not to mention a bit dangerous, must be a concrete mix or polymer formula that could do the same? It would have to penetrate as well.
