added two spoons today

Bad combination.....I'm off work for two weeks for the holiday.........some play money in my pocket........gun show a mile from my house So today I went to the gun show looking for a .357 revolver. I'm partial to S&W but was willing to entertain other brands. I looked at Taurus and Ruger but they didn't make me reach for my wallet. Then I came across a S&W model 686 + Talo edition with 3 " barrel.......wow !!! Felt great in my hand and I love stainless steel weapons. Haggled a little with the seller walked out at $700.00 plus tax not too bad. So I'm walking around all proud of myself when I come across a little beauty........a model 31-1 S&W .32 cal polished SS in fantastic shape ! What do I need a .32 for ? But as I held her in my hand and looked her over I couldn't resist so $360.00 later had her in hand also. Now I'm out of cash and no ammo purchased yet So the next best thing the credit card , picked up some .32 + .357 going to try and get to the range tomorrow. I didn't take any pics but will do so tomorrow. Had a great day and helped the local economy a little bit.

Looks like you got one of the most desirable 686 models. As I recall, the 3" barrel is the shortest that allows a full length ejection rod.

Compared to modern cartridges, I can't imagine anyone ever accusing .32 anything being a man stopper. That being said, they are a real pleasure to shoot. I'll bet between that and loading .38s in your new N frame you could shoot all day long and enjoy it!

I didn't think there were many stainless 31's out there.
Congratulations on your find.

Nice buys...............

You will enjoy both of these guns. The heavy 357 will be pleasant to shoot and the little .32 will be easy to carry. There should be some useful .32 self-defense ammo available, but you will have to look for it. A lot of people scoff at a .32 caliber but I have an old Colt pocket positive (smallest d/a that Colt made) that fits into a pocket nicely and is more likely to be carried than a big spoon.

The .32 really was an impulse buy based solely on how it looks. While it may not be known as a self defense caliber I wouldn't volunteer to be shot by one ! The .357 she's a beast !!!

Nice. My wife told me to go buy myself a Christmas gift, so I'm going 686 shopping on Monday. Except I'm looking for a 6" barrel.

Good luck in your search. It's raining so friggen hard today I'm not going to the range I guess I'll wait until after the Christmas holiday. I'm really curious how this .32 is going to shoot. It's made for 32 S&W long but I picked up some .32 ACP. Checked on the S&W forum they say it's OK to use the ACP.
