get the dash cam, a go pro could serve you well.
plus, if it's strictly a Porsche thing,, it could be a hate crime...

When the guy tried to jumped onto the hood and you swerve to avoid damage
is a reaction but I would of got off and confront the numbnut. Why wait?? Go to his house and find out what his problem with you?? I'd personally would of knocked him out!!!!! But that's ME! ![]() |

Call or go to the police so that there are 2 sides of the story.
I live in the suburb of the bay are peninsula, crowded family home. I drive pretty safely but my cars stand out. One day I was in a yellow M3, a man waved his hands, jumped out into the middle of the street and slammed his hand into my hood. I stopped and asked him what his problem was. He told me to slow down or he will call the cops. So, I told him to call the cops and stopped bugging me. I should have stayed there, called the cops and reported someone crazy vandalizing my car. A few weeks later, a motorcycle cops staked out the stop sign in front of my house while I was home. We chatted a bit while he was waiting for people to run the sign. He saw my car and said "you got into it with someone down the street the other day, didn't you" He then said nothing is happening of it. So, the cops do have some sense, but they need to hear both sides of the story. Call them, make a report, then slow down. There will be a cop giving out tickets on that road by next week.

Organize your next Porsche group run to start from the factory parking lot.

If someone is hurling their body at a moving car, there is clearly something not right or this guy didn't pass rudimentary physics in science class.
There are only a few possibilities: (1) he was trying to get you to stop to "discuss" whatever set him off (2) he was intentionally and falsely attempting to stage an "accident" for some unknown reason or (3) there is more to the story. (I'm not saying you were necessarily in the wrong just that there are always two sides and we haven't heard his.) You have a witness. You need to get your version of events documented with the police. Delaying that does not help your cause. A friend of mine was a pizza delivery driver 20+ years ago. He had a guy commit suicide by jumping in front of his car. Fortunately for him, it was not the man's first attempt (he had a long history of depression) and his family came to him after the accident to make sure that he knew it wasn't his fault. Still, even when you know it's not your fault things like that can weigh heavy on your soul. My advice is to assume the guy is a nut job and treat the situation accordingly for your personal safety and well-being. Talk to the police. You might even learn some important information about the situation (like confirmation that the guy is a nut job). You should give some thought to how to de-escalate the situation (assuming that's it's even possible or that it's not putting your safety at risk to do so).

1) He is not stable or rational.
2) You have done something to provoke him. Maybe he has video of you? Who knows? 3) Modify your behavior - Even drive a different car for a bit if you can.

Devils advocate...
You are a habitual speeder in this area.. Probably others are too. This guy has maybe simply had enough. My guess he has heard you and seen you speed by more than once. This time you were going slow enough that he saw you coming and tried go act. How about just going to see him in another car and apologise for your speeding and wrecklessness in his neighborhood. You never know, he might have young kids. try to de-escalate and show some empathy for others. either way i think you just got a very strong message.

Go to the cops and get this documented immediately!
I was involved in a situation some years ago and when it escalated I finally went to the cops. they said to me " why didn't you report this sooner?" I told them that I didn't want to get anyone in trouble and was just trying to be a nice guy. They said "Report it and let us be the bad guys. You will also be establishing a paper trail."

I'd be a little annoyed if someone was speeding past my house on a daily basis. (Believe me, I have my list of cars that I want to roll bowling balls in front of) BUT, I live on a neighborhood street with kids and people walking their dogs.
Here in AZ when it comes to speeding, "reasonable and prudent" are the law so if the speed limit is 35 but conditions are safe and no safety hazards present themselves you can actually argue your way out of a ticket in court. Conversely if conditions are terrible you could actually get a speeding ticket for doing the speed limit and have to pay it. Also, here in AZ if a guy jumps out in front of your car and you swerve to miss him, loose control, kill a 5 year old on a bike and wrecked a house, the guy who jumped out in front of you is responsible, not you. Either way, with the conditions you present, this guy can be annoyed or whatever. It sounds like he has nothing better to do with his life. As long as you're not going to destroy your 911 or kill anyone else this guy can go suck it. And get a jump on him. Contact the cops and let them know about the crazy guy!

The guy see's someone with a nice car and assumes he has lots of money..... Looks to me like he's trying to set up a "prick in a Porsche" (not intended to insult anybody....but you know the stereotype we are often projected as) to cough up some cash....
Protect yourself by documenting it right now and yes, report the activity to the law, they probably wont do anything but at least you've set the history of events in proper chronological order if anything does progress. ps...I've had guys step right out in front of me at slow speed just trying to get hit....one guy even flew 3-5 feet away from the front bumper even though the witnesses on the sidewalk said I never got within two feet of him!!! The guy still had the nerve to say that for $400.00 he would "forget the whole thing!!!" The world is a crazy place my friends....

I would have another concern: what if the next person driving your car on that road is your better half or grown kid whom you trust with your 911, and the maniac pulls a stunt like this?
Joining others who suggest you report it as soon as you can. Be safe!

Break down in a car in front of his drive, walk down to his place for water/gas and check it out as a civilian.
He has probably spent the better part of his life getting pissed off at speeding cars in front of his home. Looks like your car has become public enemy number 1.

Call the cops. Whatever is going on here, it isn't in your best interest to be silent. He's already thrown himself at your car, found where you work and taken pictures of your car. What's next? Locating where you live and coming over for a nice chat?
You need to get on the record first just to CYA. Crazy or not, here he comes!

Stop the guessing game and end this drama. Since he got caught taking pictures why don't you pay him a visit and ask him what he wants, answer all his questions.

Hey I want to see what Bob K does, especially now there is a street map, lol, I think there is more history to this than what we are hearing , not justifying the guy`s reaction (nutcase) ,but maybe your reluctance to go immediately to the police might mean that there could be some truth behind this story. I could be totally wrong, just my observation of what I`m reading here. Maybe he has gone to the cops over your continual driving habits and they have done nothing ,so he has taken matters into his own (whacko) way. Who knows. Be careful when you poke a bear with a stick in the forest.

I'm guessing here, but isn't Fresno known for their meth facilities... You gotta be stone cold Fn high on something to jump at a moving car...he's got "friends" just as high waiting in the wings. Cops are reactive, not proactive. They'll get there after the fact. Don't be a victim. Arm yourself.
