Tidybuoy - great looking mouser! Whatta cutie! My cats all live on the back shelf of my '69 MB 280SE. I have a pic of them, all three in a row, sunning themselves. When it's time to go, I slowly turn up Alpha and Omega Rastafari Dub - that'll smoke 'em out!

I bet you get laid a lot. |
Bahahahaha, you got me there Bob no fooling you mate and you're also quick its only been a day. Hey "Bobster", as you affectionately refer to yourself as the third person, going by the amount of posts in your "details" you must litterally sit at home all day hiding behind a computer trying to live your life through making bold statements, posting pictures of people you aspire to be and also analyzing other people posts so you can create rheteric comebacks. Bob you are far to clever for me, I feel somewhat inferior, I'm not worthy.

Any news? Should be nearing 7:00 p.m. in California, what's the word? What happened?
|
Hey Bobster, I'm in Detroit in 7 weeks time for a tournament. I'd love to catch up with you mate and have some Vegemite sandwiches and also give you a hug. Send me your details

Incident reported.
Went to the station and reported the incident. Unfortunately, I brought a statement from my passenger but they could not accept but told me that they will call him and get a statement from him. I expressed my concerns that this could happen again and I wanted to have something on record that showed there was a history. It turns out that the speed limit is 25. I told them that there is a sign that says "end 45" and the cop said that the limit is 25 but he agreed that the sign was misleading and also stated that a traffic judge would probably side with me, if I were cited for speeding. The sign is "technically" on the preceeding block. Regarding the nut... they said that they will send someone out to discuss and get his side of the story. I brought a flash drive with the video of this guy and his friend photographing my car. I also brought photos of our giant sign at the front gate that states "All Visitors Must Check in at the Front Office", therefore this guy was trespassing on our property. I also explained that others at my office were concerned about driving past this guys house and some are worried about their safety. At this point, if I were to press charges, trespassing is my only option. I don't feel that I need to continue with this as long as the cops pay the guy a visit and warn him that his actions could get him in trouble. They told me that they will pay him a visit today. |
Ah..intermission. I can finally go pee!
Thanks for the update. It will be interesting to see if they follow up with you after they talk to the guy. |
Surprised tehy didn't say, "Ah HA! The other guy has already been here!" LOL.Glad it was reported.
Quick story: Speed limit signs- Got a ticket in Nowhereville NY once for 40 in a 25. I was slowing from 45 as the speed limit ahead was 25. Cop said, "If you can read the sign, thats where the speed limit starts. (Lets ignore the farsighted jokes, LOL) OK, fine. So, a year later, in another Loserville NY I got a ticket for 45 in a 35. I was accelerating up a hill and the 55 MPH sign was 300 feet in front of me. THAT cop said the limit starts when you get there. (I went to court on both cases, and the judge just bs'ed me and offered a plea, of course) |
This has been a fascinating thread, but getting back to the OP - why not find another route to work? Can't tell from the photo you posted, but it looks as if there could be other options?

Tidybuoy, glad you got it reported.
Interesting on the speed limit. I have never seen anything conclusive on where the speed limit changes. I have asked LEO's and there is never a clear cut answer. Mostly seems to be a judgement call -- school zone is treated differently than highway. My wife got a ticket years ago. She was driving on a brand new stretch of road that completed a belt line around the town. The speed limit on the rest of the belt line was 55. She got pulled over at night in the rain for going 55. Officer said the speed limit was 45. She argued that she didn't see speed limit signs on the new stretch of road and assumed it was 55(like the existing 3/4 of the road). The city had exactly one speed limit sign installed at that point at it was facing the OPPOSITE direction she was traveling. Got the ticket overturned on that fact. I have heard there are still places in this country where there are no speed limits, but I have also heard Bigfoot exists. Never seen either of them with my own eyes. What is the interpretation of a sign that reads END 45mph? Never seen that before. That is... weird. |

Generally speaking, the limit changes at the sign. If there are no signs, there may be a limit based on a state law or municipal law that gives blanket speed limits for certain types of roads (surface streets or highways; divided, or not; two lane or four lane, etc.), or states that the limit is xx, unless otherwise indicated. It's not uncommon to see a limit of 25mph in a town, unless otherwise indicated, which keeps the municipality from having to install speed limit signs in every residential neighborhood.
A cop that says the speed limit changes "when you can see the sign" is not your friend. JR |

Turned on to a new road that T's into the road I came from with a 45MPH sign in sight. Apparently, the officer pulled me over because I was doing 45MPH by the sign, the 45MPH zone didn't start until the sign, the city 30MPH applied the first couple hundred feet. >_> Even more confusing, was the police officer coming back quite puzzled about how I lost so many points on my licence so fast. Found out later with some research he'd pulled over a black 944 on that same road doing 70MPH and the owner had the same last name as me.(I was driving a Copenhagen Blue at the time.) I've had this same neighbor jumping out thing. Simple communication skills, talking about it, finding out why he was mad, and even though I wasn't speeding when he jumped out into the road, I take it a little less than the speed limit by his place. Its better to get along with people in life.... |

As a note, a kid running diagonally though a busy street trying to catch a bus, ran into the side of my friends car, leaving a dent. My friend had his driving license suspended automatically for six months without a hearing. The judge threw the case out once he saw the photo of the car and chastised the prosecutor for not even looking at the photo let alone getting the facts of the case right. Lots of dangerous pedestrians out there, and some as bad as deer sometimes, be careful. |
Hope the police get back to you. I'd want to know if it's insurance fraud or he's just nuts.
